What can be more pathetic than someone in public life being rebuked by BOTH the Right and the Left? When it was announced that former CIA Director, George Tenet, would be speaking out against the Bush Administration, I figured he would be immediately embraced by the Leftwing types who always hail those who attack the EVIL Bush Regime. However, I completely underestimated how pathetic and whining Tenet would be. On top of that he has ZERO credibility in whatever he says. An example was Tenet's account of a supposed conversation he had with Richard Perle on the day after 9/11. Problem was that Perle was stuck in Europe on 9/11 and couldn't return to the USA until September 15, 2001. As a result of Tenet's lack of credibility and whining performances, both the DUmmies and the HUffington Post HUffies look upon him with disgust as you can see in this HUffie POST authored by Arianna herself titled, "Why Didn't George Tenet Just Resign?" So let us now watch sniveling George Tenet laid low by the HUffies in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, noting that Tenet is a DEMOCRAT, is in the [brackets]:

Does this sound familiar? A senior Bush administration official plays a key role in selling the Iraq war debacle to the American public, resigns a few years later, and then tries to distance himself from Bush and the war by writing a book or talking to Bob Woodward, portraying himself as a poor, hapless victim who knew the truth at the time and really, really wanted to tell it, but, somehow, just had no choice but to go along.
[All those turncoat officials were embraced by the Left. This is what George Tenet was hoping for but his excuses were so pathetic that even the Leftwingers are now rejecting him.]
What else could he do?
[Retroactively resign?]
Each version of this contemptible tale shares the same fatal flaw. It requires that the remedy that was readily available -- resignation -- did not exist.
[Just as it didn't exist for Janet Reno.]
The latest to trod this pathetic path is George Tenet.

Poor George Tenet. Flogging his book, At the Center of the Storm: My Years at the CIA, on 60 Minutes, Tenet tells Scott Pelley about how his phrase "slam dunk" was misused by the Bush administration. Tenet, you see, didn't mean it was a "slam dunk" that Hussein actually had WMD, he only meant it was a "slam dunk" that a public case could be made that Hussein had WMD.
[A distinction without a difference.]
I can't really see that the distinction matters, but Tenet apparently does. "I became campaign talk," Tenet tells Pelley, "I was a talking point. 'Look at what the idiot told us, and we decided to go to war.' Well, let's not be so disingenuous. Let's stand up. This is why we did it. This is why, this is how we did it. And let's tell, let's everybody tell the truth."
[Look at what pathetic excuses the idiot is telling us now.]
Great -- except he's about four years too late. Tenet seems to believe there's a major distinction between lying and standing by silently while others lie, and then proudly receiving a Medal of Freedom from the liars.
[Except the others weren't lying. They were relying on Tenet's intelligence which wasn't great.]
He could have simply resigned and freed himself to "tell the truth." Tenet acts as if resignation were not an option. But it was. And the passion and anger he displays now in the service of book sales could have been used then in the service of his country.
[If the fairy tale that Tenet laid out were true, then he was beyond pathetic for not resigning.]
"It's the most despicable thing I've ever heard in my life," Tenet tells Pelley. "You don't do this... You're gonna throw somebody overboard just because it's a deflection? Is that honorable? It's not honorable to me."
[What Tenet is saying here is the most pathetic thing I have ever heard in my life.]
The problem is, the honorable train left the station a long time ago, and Tenet wasn't on board.

According to the Tenet interview tonight on 60 minutes, Richard Perle to George Tenet the day after 9/11, "Iraq is going to pay for this". Neocon Perle had Iraq in his sights, so did Bush/Cheney/Rice. It didn't matter whether they had WMD's, although I think Cheney fiddled with the WMD issue at the CIA.
[According to the FACTS, "neocon" Richard Perle was in Europe until 9/15. So much for Tenet's credibility.]
Does that jackass Tenet somehow imagine he presents a sympathetic feature, coming across as he did on 60 Minutes? Where do these sons of bitches breed?

Now I want to propose that this site begin covering the story from over at democraticunderground that there is now proof that the vote count in Ohio in 04' was rigged and the official count was pirated by a server out of Tennessee that was closely affiliated with the RNC. The new 'count' was then made in the mysterious 90 minute interruption at midnight when supposedly the Ohio server went down with Kerry leading with a commanding 4 percent of the vote.
[Don't forget to hand Arianna a fashionable looking tinfoil hat.]
Tenet seems to believe that just showing up and putting in the hours is all that should be expected of the head of the CIA. He wants credit for good attendance to suffice for the whole grade. That attitude must have filtered down throughout the CIA under his leadership, since Tenet is very eager to defend his agency's tepid performance and mealymouthed acceptance of responsibility.
[Tenet, along with DEMOCRAT Valerie Plame should have been fired from the CIA on the day Bush entered office.]
I was struck by how emotionally unhinged Tenet was in the interview. I would never hire someone to a position of responsibility after an interview like that. The cocky bluster, blaming and whining, "listen to me, listen to what I'm saying!" Yeesh.
[Unfortunately Bush decided to retain an unhinged DEMOCRAT as the head of the CIA.]
He's a self-centered little worm of a man who probably actually believes he has earned that Medal of Freedom.

On 60 Minutes, George Tenet came off as an arrogant, self-pitying ass with no clue or concern whatsoever about anything but his own reputation.

While watching Tenet I had the feeling that I had tuned in on a replay of the Caine Mutiny Court Martial, with Queeg sweating and rolling the steel balls in his hand as he babbled and searched for rational understanding of the stolen strawberry crime.

They laughed at me and made jokes but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt and with... geometric logic... that a duplicate key to the wardroom icebox DID exist, and I'd have produced that key if they hadn't of pulled the Caine out of action. I wish bloggers would tone down their attacks on former Loyal Bushies who have repented of their formerly evil ways and have then written about it. Without them we might never know the full story of the disaster that is this war and administration. The last thing we want is for them to retreat into their bunkers and under a cone of silence. Grant them at least conditional forgiveness so we can learn what the hell they were thinking.

I find this to be the most telling statement of all. Tenet is but one of many Clinton holdovers (including 93 U.S. Attorneys) that have made this administration look awful.
I remember being trashed for pointing out some of Bush’s shortcomings. When all is finally said and done, a certain President is not going to look a whole lot better than the one who preceded him.

I only saw replays, but I must say this was exactly my reaction to his appearance and manner. And he headed up the CIA for goodness sake.
A little frightening when you realize the head of the CIA should have been fitted with a strait jacket.
I was pretty unsettled by it, frankly.
We have Alberto Gonzales at the head of the DOJ (not a loon, just not effective) and this unhinged whiner heading up our premier spy organization, and I suspect many more incompetents “running” things...we are in trouble.
Bush’s biggest fault was keeping on a bunch of Democrats in his administration, George Tenet among them.
BTW, I previously used to go to Wal-Mart just to buy non-food items. Anyway, a few days ago, I went to buy some stationary, and stopped by the food section on the way out. I was amazed at the bargains. I picked up a 2 lb bag of frozen shrimp cheap. Then yesterday picked up a 5 lb box of frozen Whiting fillets for just about 10 bucks. I guess I will be food shopping at the Super Wal-Mart more often despite what the Breck Girl says.
