WILMINGTON, N.C., April 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Richard T. McNeil, an attorney representing First Lieutenant William T. Kallop has issued a statement correcting yesterday's news commentary regarding his client.

Mr. McNeil stated, "The government has ordered First Lieutenant William T. Kallop to cooperate with government investigators and all counsel with regard to events in Haditha, Iraq on November 19, 2005, and it has granted him immunity from prosecution as required by law before the government could issue such an order. Lt. Kallop has not been charged and has not been threatened with charges of any kind. He is cooperating with the investigation and he is providing information to both prosecutors and defense counsel. Lt. Kallop wants the real truth about these events to be revealed, and he hopes that a fair and impartial judgment of these events can then take place."

Mr. McNeil continued, "News coverage of this event and Lt. Kallop's involvement has contained numerous inaccuracies and false statements. I will not comment on this except to say that I am confident that the true facts of the situation will be revealed in the course of legal proceedings, and like Lt. Kallop I am hopeful that a fair and impartial judgment of these events can then take place."

Mr. McNeil concluded, "I continue to be concerned about the numerous leaks of confidential information in this case, much of which has been misleading, biased and/or inaccurate."

Be extremely skeptical of anything you read in the MSM about the Haditha Marine case. The leakers are back and speculation, with absolutely no foundation in reality, is running rampant.

Distrust the media.

Trust our Marines, trust the Corps.

In other words, consider the source.

Of course the media here in the US really loves our military and our country and wants so badly for us to triumph over the evil terrorists. Why would they mislead us? /sarc

So it seems. The disposition of the Sgt. is a relief, and 180 degrees opposite what was first reported.

Reports are popping up all over the place.

...”Mr. McNeil concluded, “I continue to be concerned about the numerous leaks of confidential information in this case, much of which has been misleading, biased and/or inaccurate.”....

After Washington Post scored a huge leak of the 10,000 page NCIS report, an investigation of that leak was supposedly begun. I haven’t heard that any leaker(s) was found. Now this morning, WaPo has received another leak of the 104 page Gen. Bargewell Report. See FR thread http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1821125/posts

Wonder who’s doing all the leaking?

I e-mailed the Inspector General (who Mattis assigned to the leak investigation). I expressed my concern, as a patriot, and my hope that the results of the investigation would be made public. We should know who the leakers are and, more importantly, what their motives are. Someone is trifling with due process for our Marines. Frankly, that should warrant the death penalty.

I couldn't agree more.
The fact that "due process" is even necessary for Marines who responded to a deadly combat situation is disgusting enough. For those ACLU scumbags who are apparently running the war (with the blessing of the Commander-in-Chief, obviously) to add insult to injury by cheating the process is unforgiveable.

In the end analysis, that is the course I have decided upon some time back. To many pipers piping to many versions of what will eventually be brought forward.
General Mattis will not let these Marines go down, unless it can be carefully proven they in some way willingly ignored their ROE within the context of that particular military engagement.
