This idiot left out one thing. The reason the National Guard wasn't on the scene sooner is because they are all in Iraq.......(heard that one on NBC)

Now, that ain't sayin' much. But apparently some folks think the mayor of NOLA should be the point man for dealing with an epic catastrophe. And that just ain't realistic.

Actually I place much more of the blame at Blanco's feet than at Nagin's feet. President Bush shouldn't get a pass just because Clinton, Reagan, Carter etc. didn't take care of the problems. But Nagin shouldn't get a pass either, just because the previous mayors were even more corrupt. His responsibilities were clearly stated, and he did not carry them out, and that's the bottom line.

I have to admit that I didn't create that graphic. I'm not even really good at doing that sort of thing. But my son is and I'm thinking about asking him to do some for me. He's got a good political mind for satire too. :-) Maybe soon.

PLEASE ping me if he gets it done !!!!

NYC had no warnings of the attacks, yet it was the NYPD and NYFD that were saving people in Manhattan, not the Feds. New Orleans had at least three days warning and a PLAN in place that the Mayor could have consulted. Are you implying that just because the Mayor was Black, he shouldn't have been held up to the same standards as Rudy Giuliani?

I didn't say, or imply, anything about race. I was responding directly to the statement that those who 'do the job right' don't get any attention. But if you want to do the 9-11/Katrina compare and contrast, the NYPD and NYFD had a 98% intact city from which to respond, with electricity and communications and all of the other basic amenities of modern life. In addition, they were able to actually move around the city. Rudy would've had a far more significant task in NOLA last week than he had on 9/11.

You both make good points. The biggest difference I can see is, on 9/11, Rudy ran towards the scene, where as when Katrina hit, Nagin ran away from the scene.

I liked Pukin Dog's post. DUmmies had a link to it, proving his heart felt rant had a lot of truth within it. It was a great post

Was on the Freeway and heard a great debate on KFI 640 AM here in California, John and Ken were going at with GREAT Vigor, covering some of the same points we have layed out here....

Local and State are the first responders, so why do the Feds get the blame?

What a bunch of whiny, predictable garbage!

I heard that Karl Rove actually had the power to steer the hurricane into the Gulf and made it pull Lake Pontchartrain towards the 17th Street levy. And Bush told him to use his powers to do that.

:eyeroll:

Why that's ridiculous..noone would believe that.

It is true however that the evil Karl Rove had the levees "blown up" so that NO would flood and take the pressure off the white areas.

Now I know that's true cuz I heard it on an interview of one of the NO locals.

heh..thanks.

It's gotten mixed reviews.

One FReeper who was at odds with me and felt I was attacking his integrity apparently visited my homepage. Thereafter he attacked me and my stooopid cat.

Now I didn't mind the personal ad hominem but the attack on kitty was definitely over the top.

More mindless drivel from the pen of a stupid Ph.D. who's never lived in the real world. A Barf Alert would not have done this article justice. A Major Grab the Commode And Hurl The Morning After A Toga Party Alert wouldn't even have sufficed.

It must really suck for the stupid liberal moonbats. Every shot they take at President Bush boomerangs and strikes them squarely in the posterior.

There are some people with "issues" on here, I'm afraid. I've run into a few particularly nasty, insecure ones myself.

Anybody who attacks someone's cat has already lost the battle, as far as I'm concerned.

I have yet to have anyone attack my kitties on here, but the day someone does, I'll have both barrels ready for 'em. ;-)
