Savage has goe TOO FAR, This time!!!!(yes, this is a vanity).

Micahel Savage , is known on this site, for criticizing our President, on a given day. Some of this criticism is warranted: such as inaction on the Illegal alien problem. BUT- NOW,Savage, (Or Weiner, as some call him), seems to be joining the chours of "it's all Bush's fault", regarding the mess in NO. Tonight, he had Pat Buchannan on, saying "the president was asleep at the switch" and "this will hurt Bush, very badly". Savage agreed with everythng Pat said, and I only could listen for a few minutes.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH SAVAGE? Does he not realize, that he is playing RIGHT into the hands of the DUmmies, some of whom are talking about marches, and even violence, to "get rid of the chimp",and Savage, SUPPOSEDLY a conservative, is marching right along?

I think this will do it for me, as far as Weiner is concerned. I know he sometimes has good information on, (in between stories about dining, working at the durgstore, cleaning silver with cyanide, or stories about his dog),but to jump on the bandwagon, and blame the President for everything, is just TOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard it. He's wrong. To get the wheels of the massive support and aid to this area takes huge planning and coordination.

Just getting the Armed Forces deployed, supplied with a plan of action takes time.

This is not a time for to be believing in some "Fairy god mother and her magic wand".

It's a sad sight to see these victims of this enormous storm being told by their local authorities to go somewhere where the authorities had not planned adequately for their welfare.

They were overrun by the enormity of the storm's impact and the failure of the levies.

To blame this on our President is ludicrious. Even a democrat president could not have moved any faster.

It's easy to sit behind a microphone and play the blame game but to be a leader with the power of his office, solutions, motivation and inspiration takes a rare individual who can mount this effort to change this disaster into a miracle.

May God Bless our nation and ease the suffering and pain they are enduring and for our heroes who are working night and day to give them relief and aid and to the American people and the people of the world who are giving their monetary aid and prayers.

We will survive this and come out winners.

You actually attempt to listen to that nut?

I listened to his show for about a week. All I got out of it was:

The Iraq war is a failure.

Rush Limbaugh is a sell out.

Eat tuna for breakfast.

Eat plain pasta for dinner.

That sums up Savage's "show."

It shouldn't even be a matter of conservative or liberal, democrat or republican. It's a matter of common sense, taking in information and thinking about it. Savage is not capable of any of that, so it doesn't matter what his (ever-changing) stated politics are.

Yeah, but after 4 years and $40+ BILLION pissed away on the Dept of Homeland Insecurity, plus having several days notice, PLUS knowing that a Cat-5 hurricane hitting NO was one of the top-rated disaster scenarios, the slowness in response time is appalling, considering that we're allegedly a superpower.

We've been hearing useless 'terror threats' from the Dept of HI for 4 years now. It's glaringly apparent that the Dept. of Homeland Insecurity is only good for its stupid, inane color-coded terror threats, and not for responding to a catastrophe.

After the horror of 9/11, there is NO excuse for being so glaringly unprepared. We've been attacked and warned repeatedly. Dismantle this useless branch of gov't immediately.

There is a cult of personality with Savage. His faithful listeners are rabid in their support of him. It doesn't matter if he says something entirely beyond the pale. They will still defend him.

Same goes for Pat Buchanan.

I heard him rant about price controls earlier this week.

I wanted to punch my radio--the man is a complete idiot.

Price controls would lead to shortages, gas lines, and rationing quicker than you can say "savage nation".

The reason is you cannot compel someone to sell a product at a loss. They will simply close their business rather than do that. That iron rule applies to manufacturer, distributors, wholesalers, and retailers. How can Savage not understand such a basic economic reality?

Buchanan long ago went off the deep end and is no conservative. Not to mention he's anti-Israel and anti-Semitic. I still listen to Savage but it's harder all the time - his constant Bush-bashing is too much. Would he prefer Jean Francois Kerry in office? Further if any blame is going to be passed around, first and foremost are that idiot of a governor Blanco and that joke of a mayor Nagin. All they can do is bleat 'where's the federal government?'. They have done nothing - NOTHING! - for these people!

Concerning response time, there are a number of responsibilities. When the WTC was felled, were those President sent national guard first on the scene? No, they were police, firefighters - locals on the scene.

The first line of responsibility starts locally. NO had no one to take responsibility locally. Moving up to the state level, we have a governor who refused to do her duty and secure the city. In effect, the mayor and governor abandoned the city and just waited for the fed to come in to straighten things out. It takes the federal government time to assemble, much slower than local people.

I agree with you about the money. We know NO had to have received money to ready plans for this sort of catastrophe. It's the main catastrophe worried over for years for them.

No leadership in NO up to the governor. When the President has to call a governor and tell them to evacuate their people, it's a wakeup call that something is seriously wrong with your choice of governor.

Rising Tide: The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 and How It Changed America by John M. Barry might be a good book to read now. I don't think the Flood and the response to it did change America all that much -- it took the Depression to do that -- but it is clear that natural disasters and how government responds to them can have major political consequences.

The Negin/Blanco bunch are through, but the question is whether Louisiana voters will take their anger out on the Republicans in 2008. Politics in the last elections were based on a solid Republican South. If that's not going to be true in the next Presidential elections, it could mean a very different result.

Yup! Total failure of leadership and action on the local and state level. The more local the government the better it serves the people. When your local gov is useless you're in trouble. OTOH, it is disturbing that it took four days for the Federal Gov to fully mobilize. What if God forbid we suffer some kind of biological attack? Four days to mobilize may be three days too long. And I'm sure our terrorist enemies are wtaching this situation unfold with great interest.
