I think the Dems are going to need some quiet time alone to figure out what they believe. The fun has just begun!

We must concentrate on Plamegate

Judging from how much the liberals look like suckers in this issue I think the correct term should be "Baitbate."

" not only is Roe v. Wade overturned, but so are ALL federal powers to enforce fair commerce, ensure safe products, food and medicine, "

Is this true, or just another empty promise?

This is so depressing, everything we have fought for is slipping away. He'll probably make bible reading mandatory and put guns in every home. What can we do?

Get in line! I want a 357 automag and a King James Version please.

From another thread:

"We're Screwd"

"Is Roberts Catholic?"

"If we don't fight this, I'm Leaving the Party!!!"

"(Screw) Roberts. Let's Focus on Rovegate."

"We have to concentrate on nailing Rove and the house of bush will fall."

"We should hurry up and confirm him so we can get back to Traitorgate."

My response: Good. Leave. You're a pain in the ass.
This guy is filibuster proof, pure and simple, and alienating the vast majority of Americans with a drawn out filibuster will do much more damage to the Democratic Party (and to abortion rights) than alienating the party purists, who will come moping back here in 2006 anyway.
There should be reasonable hearings with aggressive questioning, especially on women's rights. The Democrats should promote a women's rights campaign to coordinate with these hearings, just to get people's radar up. If anything ugly comes out, a filibuster should be discussed then. As it stands, however, the guy looks acceptable, and starting off swinging is just plain stupid. You wanna leave? Leave. I, for one, will be happy to see some of the dogmatists depart.

How'd this poster get onto the thread? Maybe an evangelistic effort is in order; Alcibiades might be amenable to the sweet light of reason.

DU post:12. because were not gonna get any better he's a wild card and is definitly capable of moving to the left over time.(like souter & kennedy have) he does not appear to be a knee jerk wacko like thomas and scalia. he is capable of thinking unlike those two. fact is hes going to be confirmed so lets not drag it out and get back to beating up on rove

A rare event has occured. A post at DU has some teeth to it. Unfortunately, this person is correct. Roberts does have a Souter-O'Connor-Kennedy smell about him. What we should all be conerned about is that Bush did NOT pick a conservative. It looks like he picked somebody "confirmable". Souter was "conformable". O'Connor was "confirmable". Kennedy was "confirmable".

We all can add 2 + 2. This is not good news.

To avoid Luttig or Brown (or even Estrada) should anger us. Bush was elected twice, and the Republicans gained seats in the elections. Just why, Mr. President, are you afraid to nominate a true conservative?

I like this one:

The LINK TO ROVE of this issue is that ROVE probably helped push for him as a choice and gets to mastermind a lot of the spin as to what gets said about him.

Too funny.

Rove has driven them batty. He has taken on mythic and supernatural aspects in their minds - a sort of cross between Mephistopheles and Dr. Strangelove. It is a form of collective hallucination. Richly amusing, it is.

Sometimes I think I give the Left too much credit.

What is bizarre in these posts is the notion that keep cropping up that there is anything real at all to the Rove "scandal." How oddly out of touch they have become.

Maybe there is hope left after all.

"Don't you understand that the Repubs are baiting the Dems into opposing them so they can make the Dems look like the party that stands for nothing and opposes everything?" The dem party doesn't need any help from us on that score.

I just came back from lurking over at DU.

Looking at some of their threads, those moonbats really have their panties in a wad.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to wash up. Must be that moonbat guano.

The sad overtone to this depressing diatribe by the DUmmies is that while the islamic barbarians are literally at the gate, they're too concerned about their ideological "war" with other Americans to even care about the common cause. I don't usually see this much narcissism beyond the college-aged crowd, which ought to tell you alot about the average age of the idiots crying over there.

Pathetic.

In 5 weeks there may be no bush White House left. THAT is what we must concentrate on now.

Isn't that a thinly-veiled threat? ...An acknolwedgement of being a part of a conspiracy against the government?

...or am I just silly?

"Free guns"! "Wow, now there's an interesting approach to welfare"!

Giving guns to Democrats is like giving backhoes to chimpanzees.

Sooner or later one or two of them might figure out how to fire one up and hurt someone.

But in general they are outside their sphere of comprehension, and thus they remain mysterious, scary mechanical puzzlements, made and operated by better, more sentient creatures.

DU comment: "who said they'd leave the party?
Some people on this site threaten that at least once a week. It's sooo boring."

ROFL.

So the DUmmies and the FReepers that threaten to leave everytime they dont get their way could get together and form a third party ...

THE DRAMA QUEEN PARTY.
