When I heard that London had won the Olympics on the news today, the first thing I thought of was "Good. Hillary won't get credit."
I still feel that way.
Bob Schieffer(CBS): "I have always wondered: Do you think that had it not been for Monica Lewinsky and the scandal that was swirling around Bill Clinton, that we as Americans would have recognized earlier what a threat that Osama bin Laden posed? Because every time that Clinton would take action, when he'd fire the missiles at what was supposed to be the terror training camp, people asked, 'Is this wagging the dog? Is this something to divert us from talking about Monica Lewinsky?'"
Washington Post reporter John Harris: "I think that's the great tragedy of Bill Clinton's record on terrorism, that he understood the threat of Islamic terrorism generally, Osama bin Laden specifically, and yet he was not able to infuse his own government or the country at large with that sense of urgency."
-- Exchange on CBS's Face the Nation June 12, where Harris was promoting his new biography of Bill Clinton.
The Senator with the brown thumb; everything she touches turns to she-ott.
The giant video display slowly segued into a film clip of Hillary, nee Olympia, strolling on a Long Island Beach. A narration of her memories of how her mother often said how the Olympics truly belonged to New York City was played, as the teary-eyed Junior Senator, biting her lower lip in a gesture made famous by her faithful (if to no one but himself) husband, discovered a set of rings on the beach and slowly fashioned them into the Olympic ring symbol.
The narration continued with archived video of black track and field stadia burning in the background while the oft-victimized, former First Enabler proclaimed that the Olympics needed to be taken away from the IOC and used for the common good of herself.
I love the image of our first black president. It looks like somone tied his leash to the tail of an F-15 for a couple turns around the patch. The only thing missing is the smoke.
Love the "while bubba plays sax" image. Brilliant, again.
