Mark August 14, 2005 on your calendar as potentially momentous. It’s one day before Ariel Sharon’s planned removal of 8,000 settlers from the Gaza strip, a dramatic event no matter the outcome.

From the article:

Incredibly the Ark of the Covenant has a pretender.

With the blessings of the United Nations, a bizarre ark knock-off, carried through Vermont farm fields and sailed by sloop to UN Manhattan headquarters, has been making the rounds as a show-and-tell exercise at public schools. Called the Ark of Hope, the replica carries, among other things, the Earth Charter, a replacement for the Ten Commandments as advocated by former Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev and Kofi Annan right hand man, Maurice Strong.

The Earth Charter is "an international peoples’ treaty for building a just, sustainable and peaceful global society in the 21st century". (Philologos Bible Prophecy Research).

"No single story could ever do justice to the amazing accomplishments of Vendyl Jones, who was the true-life inspiration for Indiana Jones of Raiders of the Lost Ark blockbuster movie fame."

Are we actually supposed to believe this BS? The only source for Vendyl Jones being the "inspiration for Indiana Jones" is Vendyl Jones.

And apparently this guy has a history of being on the verge of unearthing the Ark of the Covenant...

Interesting article. Even if he doesn't find the Ark, it's likely he will find some interesting or significant artifacts (at least based on his track record).

I had not heard of the fake ark that was toured around with its "replacement" of the Ten Commandments, but it's typical of Satan to try and counterfeit things of God.

Discovering the Ark of the Covenant would be perhaps the most exciting archaeological discovery in history. I'm skeptical that it ever actually existed, but would be thrilled to be proven wrong on that account.

Isn't the Ark supposedly in some fleaspeck church in the Sudan or some such? I remember seeing a tv special on the Ark that traced it through its journey, and eventually tracked it to this little sub-saharan church on the Nile. Supposedly it was brough there by Jews fleeing enslavement by Babylon or some such. They couldn't prove the ark was there because the priest said no one was allowed to get too close to it (natch), but they had reasonably good supporting evidence to suggest it might really be there.

WOW!

I'm on pins and needles awaiting this momentous occassion!

How often are we going to see the World's three biggest LOSERS (A Failed Dictator who lost his country, An incompetant BOOB named after Coffee (who hasn't one successful accomplishment on his record) and a corrupt Bureaucrat (who is up to his eyebrows in the Food For Oil scandal)!

Sounds like a Freak Show to me.

The date August 14, 2005, is not random. That is the Jewish fast day in remembrance of the destruction of the two Temples in Jerusalem.

Vendyl believes he received a prophecy that he would find the Ark by then, or some such story.

Mikhail Gorbachev and Maurice Strong came up with a replacement for the Ten Commandments? Isn't that a bit pretentious?

And will they display it in a courthouse?

LOL! The BOOB named after Coffee was most siccessful at stealing billions of dollars, and helping his cronies do so as well. Before that, King Kofi was in charge of the UN "Peacekeeping" forces (actually a giant pedophile/child prostitution ring).

Burn the UN flag at every opportunity!

I have kept an eye on Jones for almost 20 years. He came to his old Baptist church near Elizabethton, Tenn. and I was fascinated.

Do a Googe to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.

From your link.

"As recently as last month, the rabbi, who only communicates via messenger, told Jones that the time was not yet right to discover the Temple vessels.
Last Thursday, however, Dr. Jones received a communication from the rabbi reading, “The time is right.” "

Maybe the time is right when the press are free to cover a fluff piece. I am betting that it will not occur because:

A. At the last minute the time is deemed not right again.
or
B. Some other BS reason

Oh, absolutely he is. But as I said, he is an eccentric.

In any case, my suspicions do not lie with Vendyl, but with someone who is anti-zionist that is following Vendyl's adventures.

Which of the two sects we discussed would place the confidence in Vendyl Jones' efforts that our friend has? And why would a Ben Noach object to zionism or Eretz Yisrael? Something doesn't match up.

Of course, all aside, if Vendyl does uncover the Ark, all Hell will break loose in the ME.

If they do find the REAL ARK, they are going to have to find descendants of the Levities, the Levities were the only ones who were allowed to move and touch the Ark.

Might be hard to find PURE ones.

Aren't these last names indicative of being from the tribe of Levi?

Lewinsky (Monica) Levy (Chandra)

& others-Lewenski, Leveski, Levic, Levitz, Lewitz, Levesky, etc. & these are just Slovakian names.

'Course it is the men we are looking for.

I am not sure, but, I few years ago, they managed to trace the family genes all the way back to Arron ( Moses older brother ), and I think, Arron was in the line of family of the Levities.

Actually, on Vendyl Jone's website (http://www.vendyljones.org.il), he states that he was not the inspiration for or related to the Indiana Jones movies. Please be careful with your references.

Actually, Dr. Jones was born in Texas. He studied to become a Baptist minister and then left the Baptist church to sutdy under a Rabbi on the East Coast. His bio (http://www.vendyljones.org.il/vendyl.htm) covers a lot of studies and teaching in the US, with digs in Isreal, but nothing about changing citizenship or military service.

BTW-The articles with the Aug 14 date, they were misquoting Dr. Jones. There is a correction of those statements on Dr. Jones website at http://www.vendyljones.org.il/, and more info on the dig at http://www.vendyljones.org.il/Excavations.htm.

Personally, I am not sure it is time for the Ark to be found. However, Dr. Jones has found the other items that the copper scrolls report to have been hidden along with the Ark. May be another Capone's Vault, but I will definitely be checking the progress.

I know Vendyl personally, and have been to his home near Ft. Worth. He says the late Lubavitcher Rebbe disuaded him from converting to Judaism, telling him he would have more influence as a 'Noahide'.

And I know several of the rabbis with whom Vendyl has studied or consulted, both in the US and in Israel. And I also personally know several of the other ex-Christian ministers who studied with Vendyl when they were trying to reconcile the Torah with the New Testament.

Vendyl used to deny his connection to Indiana Jones, but he's gotten older and the story has been endlessly repeated anyway, and now he seems to acknowledge a connection.

There are many personal witnesses to the improbable circumstances in his life.

But did he move his citizenship to Israel, though he was born in and still lives in Texas? His bio also states that he began a dig the day after the 6 Day War ended, which would have been difficult if he was serving in the Israeli Military at the time.

He holds dual citizenship, as do many others in the US. He has at least one son and one daughter who are observant Jews and live in Israel.

Israel has a citizen-soldier army. People living ordinary (non-military) lives are frequently called up for short periods of service.

There are, not surprisingly, some strange circumstances connecting Vendyl to the IDF. I'll look for a link or an e-mail.
