Rami (RAH-ME) is a retired American Veteran who served in the United States Army for many years, was an honored civic leader and has made his home in sunny California.
Rami is a married and successful businessman, and has recently been diagnosed with a syndrome called Aphasia, making it difficult for him to communicate effectively.
In October 2003, Rami approached his family for help, stating the physical, financial and mental abuse inflicted on him by his wife, Robin, of three years, that he was afraid of her and desperately wanted a divorce - she is 20 years his junior. Rami's family immediately took him to the emergency room where he was diagnosed with malnutrition, dehydration and Vitamin B12 deficiency. He remained hospitalized for approximately two weeks. It was learned that Robin had been giving Rami approximately 17 unnecessary drugs, which he stopped taking while living with family, and his health improved significantly. Robin filed for Conservatorship over Rami, and although Rami did not want a conservator, he asked his niece to act in that capacity. Rami's niece and family have helped Rami for over a year - Rami was independent and happy.
During the Conservatorship trial, Judge Joseph Kalin disallowed evidence to prove Rami's allegations against Robin, and instead found that Rami was delusional. Judge Kalin appointed Conservator Daniel Stubbs, who was suggested by Robin's attorneys. Judge Kalin also gave dementia powers to the conservator. Robin has and continues to use Rami's money to employ a large firm and control Rami and his assets. Rami's strong desire for independence and divorce have gone unheard.
On January 8, 2005, Conservator Stubbs removed Rami from his sister's home under false pretenses, and took him to his wife, the very person Rami wanted to be away from. Rami has been confined to his home, and despite attempts by family and friends to visit him, he is not permitted to receive visitors. Rami's attorney had to petition the court to see her client. She was allowed to visit him once after he was taken, where Rami advised her that Robin and Stubbs had him sign various unknown papers. Rami's attorney has since been removed by the court.
We believe Rami is living in silence and has no control of his life. He told both his attorney and a visiting detective that he doesn't want to be with Robin and that he's afraid of her and Stubbs. Because Rami has trouble communicating doesn't mean he doesn't feel, have desires or know what's happening to him . Rami can communicate using various methods, such as hand gestures, facial expressions, and sometimes he does form a complete sentence.
Join us in our mission to protect the health, well-being and personal interests of this great American.
More about Rami Rogriguez from the above site:
Born May 7, 1942, Rami Rodriguez is nothing short of an American hero.
Rami served two tours in Vietnam in the United States Army and worked as a medic. He received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, approximately 11 commendations and medals.
Following his remarkable military career, Rami became active in civics and local leadership. He has been honored by Presidents Reagan, Bush 41 and Bush 43.
Rami married his wife, Robin, in 2000 and has two children, Deborah and Rami, Jr. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rami's Situation
Rami was diagnosed with Aphasia, a condition that is brought on by brain lesions and that makes communication difficult. Aphasia causes language disturbance and impairs the individual's ability to speak, write or comprehend things clearly.
Friends and family who have known Rami throughout this ordeal report that he is cognizant, oriented and makes every attempt to communicate with them.
People with Aphasia can often benefit from therapies that include oral and lip reading education. It is not a cognizant disability. It is a language disability.
Rami had previously been trying to end his relationship with his wife, Robin. It is alleged that Robin had been treating Rami with medications for Diabetes, yet Torrance Memorial Hospital confirmed that he had no such condition. At the time he was examined, he had lost more than 20% of his overall body weight.
Medication was promptly halted and Rami's condition quickly improved. He moved in with his sister, Alice, and his demeanor, physical state and outlook all improved dramatically.
His wife's experts diagnosed him with dementia and Alzheimers. His own experts, including his personal internist for over 30 years simply diagnosed Aphasia, and that diagnosis stood until his conservator took him from his sister's home on January 8, 2005.
The Conservator
In October of 2003, Rami was placed into the Conservatorship program in the state of California. His Conservator (or guardian) is Daniel G. Stubbs and the presiding judge is Judge Aviva Bobb. Judge Bob dismissed Rami's attorney, Lisa Fisher, claiming she was too emotionally involved in his case.
Attorney Fisher was actively seeking to overturn a previous ruling appointing Stubbs as Rami's conservator. Her contention was that Stubbs was not properly executing his duties as conservator and was endangering Rami by doing so.
Since appointed, Stubbs has allegedly placed Rami on antipsychotic medication and has failed to protect Rami's property. By giving his wife total control of Rami's property, Stubbs had given her the opportunity she needed to attempt liquidating Rami's property.
The Convservator has refused to interview Rami's friends and blood relatives, his internist or his speech pathologist to determine what Rami wants for himself.
Rami Being Confined and Neglected
Rami has been isolated from all family and friends, and Stubbs has refused to allow him to go forward with a dissolution of marriage.
Rami has been allowed to see his attorney only once through this, at which time he cried and told her he wanted to live with his sister, Alice and appeal Stubb's appointment. Attorney Fisher filed a declaration to that effect. Rami said he was frightened of Robin and what she may do to him again and that Robin and Stubbs had him signing papers that he did not know what they were for.
Detective Curt Henderson, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, was allowed to meet with Rami once. In a Declaration filed with the court, Henderson stated Rami told him he was afraid of Robin - he begged Henderson's help in leaving Robin.
On March 14, 2005, Judge Aviva Bob denied the request for Detective Henderson to speak.
Since Stubbs took Rami from Alice's home on January 8, 2005 he has not seen any family or friends and nobody knows what his medical condition is at this time.

Rami Rodriguez in 2004
P.S. Accept the fact that you are currently losing the battle. and losing badly. You must do something that you might consider drastic to win and save this man's life.
For inspiration, rent "The Untouchables." Watch it again. Watch the Sean Connery character and how he develops Costner.
Consider it a "training film."
But a judge has already ruled on this. Since judges are incapable of error, for even their errors are law, and therefore right, we should just move along and pay no attention to the slow murder of another useless eater./extreme sarc
Didn't the 'WPPFF' tell us that this wouldn't happen? That the government should stay out of 'family' issues? Maybe they can explain how the judiciary is not part of the government. And maybe they can explain why Rami improves when unneccessary medicines are removed.
The whole thing sickens. This isn't what we fought for. Not by any stretch.
BTTT
Is this another spouse trying to commit murder?
Unbelievable what is going on in this country!!

MB's advice has been delivered much more tactfully this time, and deserves consideration.
And thank you for the ping!
Good job Sun!!!
How about contacting some Veterans Organizations and pinging some of the vets on FR?????
Thanx.
Great idea about contacting vet organizations.
Didn't you know, that spousal murder is legal?
Judge Greer and a bunch of FReepers said so.
After all, preventing someone from murdering their spouse is "government intervention" and that is bad, but murder is OK, as long as you don't murder strangers, only your spouse.
(sarcasm)
LOL!
That's right. I keep forgetting that it is OK to kill family members, and other people should allow it, and just butt out, because killing family members if a private matter.
Are there any first hand sources to look at - court documents online... direct statements from Rami's attorney etc?
He is a veteran. Thought some might be interested, or even interested to help. He is in CA, in the LA area.
"Rami served two tours in Vietnam in the United States Army and worked as a medic. He received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, approximately 11 commendations and medals.
Following his remarkable military career, Rami became active in civics and local leadership. He has been honored by Presidents Reagan, Bush 41 and Bush 43."
Wow!!
Sounds like good advice. Shall we all (Terri warriors) view it?
Terri wasn't the first attempt at spouse murder (read up
on Michael Martin) nor I fear, will she be the last.
I think, decades ago, truly no one outside the family was
involved or knew much, if anything about such cases, back
when opiates were OTC, etc. Nor, in instances where mere
fatigue on the part of caretakers was involved. But we
as a society did not officially condone those deaths. Now
we are, meaning us as the body politic, through the decrees
of judges and the inaction of the executive. G-d save us all.
PING -- I gave you credit for finding this information.
And again, it's me! I see what you did - set up another
thread - terrific. It's really not important that I
get credit on anything I put into FR the main thing that
information gets out there.
Do you work with Jim Robinson?
Another spouse trying to commit murder in my opinion.

Rami cannot contract - he llost the right when the judge granted "dementia powers" meaning he is incapable and not allowed to hire an attorney.
MindBender - yu are right now, as you were before about Terri. I contacted professional PR people - $30 - $60,000 for 6 months, which his family cannot afford. His estate can afford it tho. Ideas? Even if he were free of Robin this minute, he does not have the right to contract or spend any of his hard earned $. At Christmas time he sobbed because Mr. Stubbs did not give him eating $ much less any $ to buy gifts for family and friends. Rami loves giving gifts!Fay Franklin
Look at the site. You will see all the motions - excessive litigation by the wife's lawfirm, Holland & Knight, and the conservator. We will get actual docs up shortly - boxes and boxes, so we will have to pick and choose.

If they kill itty bitty babies, why not Vietnam Vets with medals?
Ping - don't know about another Terri Schiavo -- but wife had him on 17 drugs he did not need to be on...
Ping -- Vietnam Vet in trouble ping
Allred as a starting point.
Any state agency that deals with elder abuse.
Get older Marines to picket her house, under supervision.
Good luck.
Thank you for the contact info!!
I was thinking perhaps his family could hire one?
What about the SwiftBoat Vets organization? If they got involved, the plight of this Vet would be big news.
Grandma in Michigan
This veteran certainly deserves it!
Do you know any Veterans who might be willing to help?
PING!!!!!!!!
The bottom line in all of these "Schiavo-like" tragedies is this: Beware of who one marries, for a bad choice could kill you prematurely!!!!! I don't think the American people can understand though: they will continue to make the same mistakes.
Yea, kinda makes you look at trophy wives in a more nefarious light, doesn't it?
Thank you for the ping. I can hardly believe what I am reading. Thank God this man has friends and family who care for him and seem to be taking action. I will pray for all involved.
God Bless and have a great day!
good ping, TA. 68-69Tonkin' surely knows someone who'd be interested in helping!
I'm in for any graphic design needed. Will work on a ribbon and postcard ASAP.
bttt
Cancel that. I just looked at the site, it looks great. I'll kick in with some research soon.....
Doesn't look good, does it?
I think protective agencies have more teeth than they do in Florida, or I hope so anyway. Prayers are being said for Rami also.
Keep me posted, ping me, whatever.
Has anyone started a Defense Fund?
If so, let me know where to send a check.
We "Brothers" will NEVER forsake another, in a time of need.
