Someone died in North Carolina today ... I don't know exactly who, but the death has impacted my family, nevertheless. I do know that this death was the result of an automobile accident yesterday, but whether male or female, young or old, I do not know. And I don't know when the decision was made for this person to be an organ donor, or by whom ... I only know that of all the thousands on the waiting list for kidneys, someone in North Carolina was the perfect match for someone in my family, already months on dialysis ... waiting for the perfect match.
The call came last night to be on standby ... if all went well, the precious gift would be flown today from North Carolina to Philadelphia, and life would be extended. But it didn't go well ... the kidneys were too gravely injured. Somewhere in North Carolina, a family is deeply grieved at the loss of a loved one ... someone has died. In Pennsylvania, someone is grieved because of this death, and more than that. This death did not bring hoped for life. We struggle on until the next perfect match, always at odds that life must come from death.
TOPICS: Health/Medicine
KEYWORDS: organdonor; transplantdonor; transplantrecipient
Heavenly Father, we return to thank You that You have given mankind the knowledge to do such extraordinary things, and You have given so many the extraordinary love to provide for the living, even after death. Look with mercy upon the grieving family in North Carolina today, for their loss is immeasurable. Bless them in their desire to extend the gift of life to someone totally unknown ... may they know the gratitude for the wonder of their love. In the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen ...

You have an interesting perspective, and I can appreciate it.
You have put it artfully, but do I understand that in the end, the transplant did not work? I am sorry if that is the case.
To: HairOfTheDog
The transplant wasn't attempted, HOFD ... the kidneys were too badly damaged. The assessment was made at the time of death that they were not usable.

....it is sad that someone must die to save another, but, it is also true that that person is now home with God and Jesus. How happy they must be now.
My prayers to you and yours Pegita, and Thank You for all your the beautiful prayers for other Freepers and the Prayer Thread.
Your Love and Trust of God and Jesus is so heart warming, I'm sure you are one of their favorite Earth Angles!!!!
