Right Wing News gives ad space to the UN (Interview)

HundredPercenter has conducted a mini-interview with John Hawkins from RightWing News,
regarding a UN ad that he has accepted on his site. Being a staunch opposer of the UN,
Hawkins says it's better that he get the ad revenue, rather some left winger.

Here is the full Q & A:

HUNDREDPERCENTER-
I see you have
stirred up some emotions for accepting the UN ad. I am somewhat mixed on
the matter.

On one hand- when making a pre-meditated decision to accept an ad, it would make sense to
advertise what you feel should be promoted- not what pays the most.

However, considering you have just made the big leap to blog full time, I understand the need
for extra revenue.

If someone offered to buy the ad space, for an equal amount, that the UN
inhabits on RWN, would you give the UN the boot?

JOHN HAWKINS-
Nah. Honestly, I thought it would be funny to take the UN's money and then just tear them a
"new one" on the page. If they want to advertise on a blogrun by someone who loathes them
and that caters to people who hate their guts, that's their decision. And if they hoped buying a
blogad would get me to "make nice" with them, I think I've already shown that isn't going to
work with that post I made about them on Friday.

Furthermore, let's face it: the US isn't just a member of the UN, we're the biggest dues paying
member of the organization. Given that, I just don't personally look at them as such
"untouchables" that no one should ever run their ads under any circumstances. Besides, where
would you rather their money go: to a blog like RWN that doesn't support them or to some
left-wing program that's inimical to American interests?

HUNDREDPERCENTER-
What do you think of Instapundit's statement of you "shilling" for an advertiser?

JOHN HAWKINS-
As far as the shilling comment goes, that's just part of Glenn's dry sense of humor. He didn't
mean anything by it. Heck, he has run UN ads himself in the past. I also noticed
Hugh Hewitt
had one up earlier as well so it's not as if I'm the only big name conservative blog running it.

HUNDREDPERCENTER-
If someone wanted to buy AD space right above the UN slot that read: "The UN
caters to all dictators, pedophiles and America haters equally;" would you
accept it?

JOHN HAWKINS-
Sure, I think that would be hilarious!

HUNDREDPERCENTER-
Since the UN is a paying advertiser of RWN, will you curb your criticism of the UN?

JOHN HAWKINS-
Lol, did you read
the post I put up announcing that I was taking their ad?

My final take:
Although
HP wouldn't  mind spending UN money on cigars, I would not be able to look at my
own website with a UN ad on it. Nonetheless-
HP admires John's sense of humor on the
matter.
