Cycling Through Michael Moore's Dirty Laundry

Earlier this month, Michael Moore explained to his fans why he would not be seeking a best documentary Oscar and cited " I'm giving it up in the hopes more voters can see 'Fahrenheit 9/11' ". Moore hoped to persuade a network to air the film on television so that millions more would see his work prior to the November election, making his movie ineligble for the Oscar for best documentary. (Mike should ask 60 minutes to air his film)

Perhaps, another reason that Mike should not seek an Oscar for best documentary is that his film should not qualify as a documentary at all! According to Webster's (Webster.com) definition below, a documentary is described as factual and objective. After watching the film myself, Moore's film is far from being factual nor objective. Bowling for Truth provides great point by point analysis to why this is so.

Main Entry: Documentary - being or consisting of documents : contained or certified in writing - of, relating to, or employing documentation in literature or art; broadly : FACTUAL, OBJECTIVE - 'a documentary film of the war' - a documentary presentation (as a film or novel)
However, if there was an Oscar for best Propaganda film, then Michael Moore would be the hands down winner!

Main Entry: Propaganda - the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person - ideas, facts, or allegations spread deliberately to further one's cause or to damage an opposing cause; also : a public action having such an effect
Moore also writes:

"Here's the bad news for Bush: Though 80% going IN to your movie are Kerry voters, 100% of those COMING OUT of your movie are Kerry voters. You can't come out of this movie and say, 'I am absolutely and enthusiastically voting for George W. Bush.'"

This is also not factual, because I myself came in the movie 'for Bush' and out of the movie 'even more for Bush'. This makes Moore's assessment that 100% of those coming out are Kerry voters is another lie. In fact, I actually came out of the movie absolutely and enthusiastically disgusted by liberals. By the way Mike, I hope you appreciate the $9.50 I spent to watch your movie, you should put it towards a membership at 24 hour fitness.

In my opinion the most accurate thing Mikey pointed out in his blog entry was the following:

There have been so many great nonfiction films this year, why not step aside and share what we have with someone else? Remove the 800-pound gorilla from that Oscar category and let the five films who get nominated have all the attention they deserve

I think you are being a little too hard on yourself, Mike. Based on my estimations, you are probably no heavier than 600 pounds.

If you really want people to read this, I would suggest a better title.
