The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has delivered a recommendation to the Drug Enforcement Administration on marijuana policy, and Senate leaders hailed it Wednesday as a first step toward easing federal restrictions on the drug.
HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra said Wednesday on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that the agency has responded to President Joe Biden’s request “to provide a scheduling recommendation for marijuana to the DEA.”
“We’ve worked to ensure that a scientific evaluation be completed and shared expeditiously,” he added.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a statement that HHS had recommended that marijuana be moved from a Schedule I to a Schedule III controlled substance.
“HHS has done the right thing,” Schumer, D-N.Y., said. “DEA should now follow through on this important step to greatly reduce the harm caused by draconian marijuana laws.” …

Just what we need…. more people who are doped up and don’t care
“reduce the harm caused by draconian marijuana laws.” …
When half the work force can’t be employed ... your doing something wrong.
It’s time to stop the madness ..refer madness that is.
I’ve been expecting legalization at the federal level for quite a while now. It just seems to represent the direction this country is going.
You are exactly right.
And that's why the Marxists trying to establish a dictatorship are pushing marijuana. They don't want the lower classes (i.e., anyone beneath the elite) to be able to think or care.
The democrat party is making damaging drugs available so the masses take them and weaken themselves. A weak population is easy to control.
Keep us doped up and docile while taxing the plant itself
Meanwhile, the very taxation keeps the black market alive, just as for tobacco in high-tobacco-tax states.
And that is exactly what the Powers That Be want. Makes it so much easier to control us.
Yep. Now it’s a tax crime not a drug crime even if it snares the same class of people.
Since I became a landlord, I’ve noticed that ALL of the people I’ve had to evict had one thing in common. Marihuana use. Now, that usually wasn’t the only drug, but it was always there. It was usually the first one I noticed and a harbinger of a future failure to pay rent. Here’s another note. I always tell people ahead of time when I have to go into their house. That’s so if they have something illegal, I don’t have to deal with it. The last guy I had to evict for nonpayment left a four-foot-tall bong as the centerpiece of the kitchen table. For four years he paid the rent, and I knew he smoked pot. Then he lost his job and when I spoke to him, he sounded like a record recorded at 331/3 and played back at 78. The guy with me whispered, “that’s meth talking.” The gateway drug theory everyone laughs about, well, I’ve seen it at work a dozen times. I recall hearing guys in college saying, “I can quit (pot/coke/alcohol) anytime I want. I just don’t want to.) After a while people high on pot no longer feel high, so they advance to the next level.
Population is easier to control when they’re high.
My daughter has tried countless times to quit, and she can’t. She used to all kinds of hard drugs, and she kicked them all, but she can’t seem to kick the weed.
How is this possible? Last I heard pot is a DEA Schedule I drug, meaning it has no legitimate use and is in the highest category of dangerous drugs. Anyone with half a brain knows it is a gateway drug. The wannabe users use the ‘medicinal’ angle to erode control. America is one of the most drugged-up countries on the face of the earth.
How many high school kids are now attending school high on weed? How many employees work high? If being high is dangerous, like working with high powered tools, do the businesses already test for drugs while working? Can they test that, or just if you’ve used drugs in last 10 days?
“gateway drug theory “
Take it back a notch or two ...
Beer .... or even cigarets ...
You said he paid the rent for years ... looks like the meth got him.
But everyone who smokes pot dosen’t do meth.
I know a lot of young men who smoke a little pot on the weekend. Some quit long enough to hit the cup ... but their job is always at risk.
Some just work off the books.
Some run their own show.
Some are lazy scums that won’t hit a lick at a snake.
Takes all kinds.
A government that can tell you what you can’t put in your body .. can tell you what you have to.
Just a thought ....
Because the government cares about our health. If Schumer says it’s good, it’s not.
Now that marijuana is normalized, the left is now pushing mushrooms. Just like the fornication-homosexuality-transgenderism track of abomination. We’re watching American society collapse right before our eyes.
Ping.
The major worry of this administration.
How to keep the border open and how to keep the population drugged.
Besides of global warming hoax!
