It was only short-sighted if you knew in advance that the “degreed counterparts” would go on to sell the programmers down the river relentlessly for decades at a pace never before seen short of actual genocide, and that the nation would plunge itself into mad overcredentialism at the same time.
Gee, when Westerners go to India, not only are they served by Indians, they have mobs of Indian beggars banging on the windows of the taxi.
I’ve worked with lots of Indians. They tend to have decent academic credentials, but the ones from India (as opposed to second generation) have terrible work habits and attitudes, and are generally not very productive and not especially hard working. The do work cheap, but I doubt they are any bargain at the price.
The author certainly does not sound like a bargain. Would you want him to work for you, or with you, or have him supervise you? Either in this country or in India? There’s a whole subcontinent of them back where this one came from. If they were any damn good India would be a paradise.
I am not opposed to allowing modest levels of immigration of educated, English speaking immigrants. Even assholes like this guy. I am opposed to welfare immigration, millions of free loaders who are demand Spanish speaking teachers for their ineducable litters, who disrupt life by making a fuss in public (Indians are clearly not exempt) with rude, selfish behavior. (Who’s never seen an Indian woman in an Audi run a red light, raise his hand.)

Exactly. In America, we love rags to riches stories. You can rise above what you were born into. Now, all those H1Bs from India? They all come from top of the socio-economic strata in their home country. That explains the snooty tone. Jackasses don't understand that either. I live in a college town, naturally leftist. Might explain why I seem to pay high price for tradesmen to work on my house - I presumed to be one of them. My plumber said the worst customers were white women in town with money, 50+ years old. They are always unhappy, nag, complain incessantly, don’t want to pay. He refuses to do repeat service calls for them.
Someone needs to write in clear and intelligent English before he gives his opinions on America!

Unfortunately it has been institutionalized (government, business, education, media, etc) and metastasized despite past Supreme Court rulings. It is a malignancy that undermines our freedoms. It is fundamentally anti-American.

The hardest thing to explain to the replacement Americans is that Trump won in large part because of the replacement Americans. Indians are the white-collar counterpart to Mexicans; both come from primitive cultures that will never compete with the West. While both have tremendous potential, cultural issues will prevent it from ever being realized.
One example is the fact that there really aren’t “well-rounded” Indians; their caste system narrows their focus to very limited interests. Talk to a white collar Indian about what is wrong with his car, anything about a lawnmower, or something related to the military - you’ll get blank looks in response. Those issues are for another caste, and they know - and care - nothing about them. I asked an Indian co-worker if any relatives are in the military during one of the flare-ups in Kashmir, and he replied that he was for x caste (I don’t remember) - they didn’t serve; offer to help an Indian with his hood raised due to problem with a car, and he asks if you’re a mechanic - there is simply no other reason why you might know anything about cars. Very odd...

In the NYC metro area, many Uber/Lyft drivers are Indians (along with other foreigners); they don’t seem to realize that after factoring in your time and wear-and-tear on your car, the actual wages are VERY low.
The wages aren’t even cheap anymore, but they can be worked 7 days per week. Americans want things like weekends, lunch breaks, and vacations.
