Life’s Distractions Have Hindered the Black Liberation Movement
The Milwaukee Courier ^ | March 3, 2017 | Rahim Islam

Posted on 03/04/2017 4:07:45 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Many of us keep asking ourselves why the Black community in America hasn’t made more social and economic progress. Sure, we’ve made individual progress, but as a Black group, we’re really struggling. This isn’t some academic exercise, this is real. By any and every measurement that you want to examine (i.e. wealth, ownership, business rates, marriages, health, incarceration, education attainment, etc.) we are in serious decline, and the decline is moving faster in the negative. If our community was an airplane, we would be falling fast out of the air and near a great crash on the ground that would produce mass levels of casualties. What’s worse is that we have no organized or central defense to what is happening.

On the ground, where our people reside and live, these statistical realities are becoming more and more structural in nature and has an invisible life crippling impact. It’s like having cancer that is growing and spreading throughout the body and making the cure look more and more like a miracle – breaking the structural cycle of poverty is becoming more and more of a challenge for today and tomorrow’s children. These realities are creating a “cement” economic ceiling for too many of us, impacting is that socially and economically millions of Black people and their children are being denied from ever having the opportunity to achieve true American citizenship – I classify this as a “permanent” underclass (2nd class citizenship).

I contend that for too many of us the normal life struggles, which distract us from the Black Liberation Movement....

50 years of AA, preferential hiring, preferential scholarships, and social service programs prove, there is no ‘cement’ ceiling. Opportunity oozes in America. There is, however, a motivation ceiling, and people like Rahim build it.

...Life’s Distractions Have Hindered the Black Liberation Movement...

Certainly not distractions like working, going to school, teaching their kids what is right and wrong by example, and having a dad in the house.

TL;DR is “Capitalism = Racism, we need a Communist government run by blacks.”

1. Mindlessly voting D.

Re: “Many of us keep asking ourselves why the Black community in America hasn’t made more social and economic progress.”

Indolence?

Contempt for English language communication skills?

Cultural acceptance of violence and theft?

Contempt for women?

Finding joy only through the humiliation of others?

Cultural acceptance of drug and alcohol abuse?

Your African ancestors were sold into slavery by their own families?

You’re right; the Irish struggled when they arrived here, and realized they’d have to work their way up (and they did). Affirmative action “normalizes” inferior performance by blacks (and other preferred minorities); they will never thrive as long as the government regards them as “boys”...

"...as a group, White people have a distinctive and inherited competitive social and economic advantage over Black people whom they have physically and legally held back based on the color of our skin for nearly 400 years/"<;/i

] As a group, only a minuscule number of American white people have ancestors who were here 400, 300, or 200 years ago.

My ancestors didn't arrive of America's shores until well after the end of slavery.

How is it that all white people are implicated?

(For that matter, how would we be implicated even if our ancestors DID own slaves or support slavery? Not one person on earth can choose his ancestors.)

So here's another thing that's holding you back, Mr. Islam: dwelling on race-based resentment, envy, grievance, and moral defamation.

What a colossal waste of energy.

1690 on William Penn’s fleet of ships. Quakers generally didn’t own slaves or indentured servants.

Wrong wrong wrong.

To claim that government programs are keeping Black people down is the height of Conservative cuckery.

The Conservatives think that America's "Magic Dirt" will give everyone that arrives here the European culture, values, and mindset to make everybody great! Wrong wrong wrong.

Irish and Africans are VERY different people.

Take a look at Africa. There is no Affirmative Action there.

Because yours is a culture that idolizes failure. Failure is seen as a rejection of White standards, so anyone brutha who succeeds must have done so by betraying his race. Stay drunk. Stay stupid. Rip off the White Man every chance you get. Knock up as many girls as you can -- bonus points if it's a white girl. Steal. Sell dope. Scam the welfare system. THAT'S success in the 'hood. THOSE are the values that are celebrated.

Now ask again why your culture isn't advancing ...

That will never change, and it's not the cause of Black failure. Every race in the world has race based resentments.

The problem with Black peoples' failures in an advanced Western society is.......

.... I would get banned from FR if I posted it!

You know what blacks would do without government programs?

THEY WOULD GROW UP!

They were better educated, with higher workforce participation and stronger families, 75 years ago when nobody GAVE them anything.

I found it interesting when he notes that blacks who have made it in America counsel other blacks the same way white America does: work hard, go to school, take care of your family and you too can be successful. But then says somehow they’re all wrong. Everyone who’s successful even those of your own race says the same thing, yet you would rather pay attention to those who are not successful. You can’t fix that kind of stupid.
