Josef Joffe, the editor-publisher of German weekly Die Zeit, suggests the easiest way to end the “Trump catastrophe” is to murder the president in the White House.
Joffe joined panel show ARD-Presseclub to answer questions from the public. A viewer called in to ask if it was possible to impeach President Donald Trump and end the “catastrophe.”
“There has to be a qualified two-thirds majority of the Senate in order for a removal of office to take place,” a female panelist responded. “These are politically and legally pretty high hurdles, a lot would have to happen for it, we’re far away from that.”
Joffe then jumped in with a calm response.
“Murder in the White House, for example,” he said.

Joffe recently authored an op-ed in The Guardian where he argues Trump will do “untold damage to Europe.”
They’ll be committing seppuku, methinks.
The French election, with Le Pen likely winning will set a number of German elitists and intellectuals onto some path....claiming they are the anti-fascists fighting the fascists. By mid-summer, with French and Dutch wins...German politics will be fairly screwed up. Toss in Snowden likely being brought in to give testimony, and an anti-Trump/NATO theme....I see US relations going negative by the fall.

A military response against Mr. Joffe would be a justified act of self-defense. Since Joffe clearly advocates an unambiguous act of war against us, it is not only appropriate, it is almost obligatory to treat him as a national security threat.
The patriots of this country will not accept the murder of their president without substantial and definitive reprisals. The destruction of the Twin Towers led directly to a war that rages even today. The assassination of Trump will result in no less a response.
The American people view President Trump as the last peaceful attempt to rid our nation of the evil influence of progressive Marxist ideology. Those insurgents have been waging war against this nation for 100 years. We have resisted but not with violence.
We are not a violent people but we will, as a final solution, adopt violence as the only and necessary action to save our nation. If violence is done to us we will respond in kind with horrifying consequences, undoubtedly on both sides.
I do not believe the majority of useful idiots have the will to lay their lives on the line for the likes of the Democrat party leadership or their vaunted platform.
Violence will beget violence and it will be definitive.

Hopefully, the TV show and his newspaper will fire his azz. Hopefully, they CAN fire his azz; I don’t know what Germany’s employment laws are like.
What is it with all these people wishing harm to Trump, anyway? It’s like the moon is always full nowadays.

Let’s not kid ourselves; the US is incredibly violent. Even in domestic policy, we declare “war on” things. War on Poverty, War on Drugs, War on Terrorism, etc. Every two or three years we invade another country; and government violence against citizens has been so routine for so long that people think it’s normal.
Well, no. The “wars” you describe were not military in nature. They were peaceful attempts to resolve serious social problems.
The most war faring administration in our nation’s entire history has been Obama’s. He was at war, most of which he started, every day of his administration. Obama, however, does not represent the spirit of this nation. He and the Democrat party are outliers, Marxists, intent on reducing the influence and strength of the US to a third world country. For now they are in disarray. They will be back. We must, if we are to rebuild our nation, remain vigilant.
As usual, they are going to need us worse than we need them.

As I read that exchange, one commentator explains that impeachment is very difficult, and that "a lot would have to happen for it [to take place, and] we're far away from that."
The second commentator offers "murder in the White House" as something sufficiently outrageous that it would trigger impeachment. He is not calling for the assassination of Trump; he's saying that if Trump murdered someone, Congress might impeach.
He is, of course, perfectly correct as far as a Democratic president is concerned. The Democrats made it entirely clear during the Clinton era that they would form a phalanx to defend the indefensible. For a time, we thought that Robert Byrd might find his conscience and break ranks. There was a brief moment when John Glenn seemed about to break. In the end, both proved to be hacks. There was not a single Democrat willing to stand publicly for what many acknowledged privately. And there was not a single Democratic constituency in the country that made them pay a price. I used to think the Republicans would be different; on good days, I still do.
America should issue an arrest warrant for Josef Joffe and request his extradition to the USA. He is inciting murder against the President of the USA. Germany can huff and puff and refuse to extradite him but let him become a fugitive, facing arrest, if he ever sets foot outside Germany.
The once great nation of Germany that can no longer defend itself is talking about other countries. Maybe they ought to take care of their Muslim problem first.

Exactly. Let this become an international event. Merkel needs to answer to Trump if she refuses to turn him over. She'll look more the fool to the world. It'll be the perfect excuse to cut funding to Germany.
A German friend (or roll out the welcome mat to invaders pajama boy type exfriend after this election) said the US military civilian jobs are holding up the German economy. Sounds like those jobs need to be downsized.
The headline is wildly misleading. Many people don’t stop to read the underlying story. I’ve been guilty of that myself from time to time.
