Debate question (vanity)
Self

Posted on 09/13/2016 7:21:12 AM PDT by Pearls Before Swine

Today, with Hillary's health a hot topic of discussion, I am wondering about the rules for the upcoming debates.

Does anyone know whether these debates, which I believe are 90 minutes long, will require the candidates to stand, as is usual? If Hillary isn't feeling quite up to it and sits, what will the impact be? Would DJT stand? Would it be spoken of as "bullying", like when Al Gore puffed out his chest and walked into GWB's personal space (GWB handled it very well, by the way), or when Rick Laszlo was "mean" to Hillary during a debate in her NY Senate run?

TOPICS: Heated Discussion
KEYWORDS: debate; health; hillary
I haven't heard anything about the debate rules. I was wondering how Hil's stamina could be factored in.

” Hillary, I have a yes or no question. And this is before God. Have you ever lied to the American people?”

If I were Trump, I'd wear a strobe tie clasp, no blue, say something a few times in a yell toward her, go calm for a little while and then randomly explode again.

These would be certain to set off bobblehead and then cause her legs to fail.

Then, I would turn to the camera and say, “I don't think she's been entirely open with her health issues.”

The debate would be over as they carted Hillary to the ER.

Do they make strobe tie clasps?

It would be a Parkinson’s dog whistle!

I don’t know if there are formal rules about standing/sitting but I remember a Clinton/Bush “town hall” debate where the candidates each had a stool and no podium (recalling the ponytailed guy who asked Bill to think of us all as his children...).

It’s all about “looking presidential” and debate analysts made a deal about Nixon looking “shifty” in his debate with JFK because he had discomfort in his lower legs that caused him to keep shifting his weight from one leg to the other while JFK stood erect.

In NO WAY should Trump wander over to Hillary’s side of the stage like Lazio did. The magnitude of his presence will be enough where such theatrics aren’t needed. In fact, the more serious and CEO-like that Trump behaves, the better it will look for him.

Nonetheless, the hot camera lights in a studio will be enough to make any debate an endurance test for Hillary. She’ll be very uncomfortable and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if she tries to duck the debates as much as she can.

No, they wouldn’t cart her to the ER. Her stout “doctors” would throw her into that black SUV and take her to her hotel. No real hospital is allowed to see her. Nothing this weird has ever happened in a campaign.

THAT’S what I was going to say, laying down position. The graphic says it all!

Yeah, I was wondering if HRC's handlers would push for a sit-down format, instead of standing at a podium for 90 minutes.

I would also recommend to Trump to wear a vest under his suit coat. It would have a look of being very serious and presidential. I remember Ford did this against Carter in '76, and it made an impression. Of course, Ford screwed it up by saying Poland wasn't under Soviet domination later on in the debate.

I posed this a while back. She might call for a nice cozy fireside chat so she can sit in a chair.

She will need railings and several steps to sit down on her stool.
