Nothing like another First World Problem to show us some real perspective.

and. . .

Granted, there are a few, a very few, people where instant response is a desirable thing. But for the vast number of other people... my statement stands.

My sympathy to folks who have allowed themselves to become a slave to technology.

Choice is tough.

You don't have to decide what another person's freedom and happiness entails. . . and the pursuit of happiness entails a lot. I am constantly amazed at the judgmental attitudes of so-called conservatives on Freerepublic who don't want others to have Freedom or happiness unless it meets with their ideas. . . and constraints.

Slice WHO? Who ever heard of Slice before the “bash-Apple” edition? No one, except maybe their mothers. Just shows you what you can accomplish by making a “bash Apple” announcement.

How did they get their data? By skimming 1,800 emails. Really, I wonder what group of people said “Hey, skim my email”?

When you look at their metrics, how they derived their metrics, and where their metrics came from - well, bogus barely begins to cover the bases. And with “journalists” simply too lazy to ask even the most basic questions, either in science, politics or anything Apple related - this is what you get.

No one is bashing your Samsung. Perhaps it’s a one-sided respect, I do not know.

But, there is one thing your wife has that you do not - your Samsung will never be more than it currently is. I hope you love it, and cherish it, because you bought it for what it is, and all it will ever be.

Your wife’s Apple Watch will gain new features, improve battery life in this falls Watch2.0 release, and gain yet new features next year, and the year after that. I would suppose it’s good for at LEAST 3-4 new Watch updates. The iPad2 has seen over 5 years of upgrades, just due to iOS updates, and each adds features that the iPad could not perform the previous year.

Unfortunately, the Android side of things doesn’t appear to support any upgrade path.

... having to respond to your phone or pull it out of your pocket or bag for each phone call or text message turns out to be fairly disruptive.

Why, Lord, why?

You got it. . . that's exactly what kind of data we are talking about that has resulted in all this hysterical.press. They have an App that requires people to input all their email charge receipts. I saw their chart and knew right off it was bogus.

There WERE no receipts in first three weeks of April. Apple did not charge any credit/debit cards until delivery started in the last week of April, yet Slice Intelligence shows a huge spike of sales receipts in the 2nd and 3rd week and few in the 4th week. . . and Apple had lots of receipts on May 6th onward where they showed few sales. BOGUS as a three dollar bill. All people received on April 10th, were emails acknowledging that their order had been received, not any kind of a "receipt."

The other problem is that Slice only polls USA sales. . . and that only represented 34% of Apple Watch sales. They know this, but did not report this in their breathless press release filled with hyperbole. One has to see WHO is listed among their paying customers. There you find Samsung and Microsoft, which a real journalist would dig to find out, and then you understand that the entire report is just marketing FUD.

And, what do these upgrades accomplish?

What does your watch do today, that it didn’t do the day you bought it? What does it do better? Were features added, or were bugs fixed?

For instance, with the iPad, multi-tasking, iCloud backups, iTunes Match, Apple Radio, HealthKit, HomeKit and numerous other new features were added, each year. These are features that didn’t exist when the iPad first came out, but were subsequently added in each new iOS update. These upgrades do not include the numerous updates that fixed security issues, or improved existing functionality (such as battery life, WiFi connectivity, etc).

What are you blithering about? What is coming to an end? You have no evidence to back your statement, yet you continue to push your claim? What exactly is your point? Apple has sold more Apple Watches than they did iPhones in its first year, and more than it sold iPads in its introduction, so exactly WHAT whole business thingy are you talking about? Apple's stock is up 3% in the last two days, Apple reported the most profitable quarter in history for any corporation in 4th quarter 2014, the Market cap is a $730 BILLION, more than twice as much as the next largest publicly traded company in the world, and you talk about I'm missing the "whole business thingy?" You are delusional...

I’m shocked by your support! Heh, You are just the example that I wished for! An Apple enthusiast that has no idea about whether their latest product has any benefit or is a black mark on their brand.

Really, how do you know about the watch sales - they are hiding them for a reason. Apple stock has reached a pinnacle I would guess (No, don’t use me as a reason to buy or sell). My thinking is that while Apple has cornered the Phone market (due to marketing rather than technology - in today’s market), it has lost its ability to continue their ability to sell products because they are losing their edge in technology. This happens slowly so I would expect Apple to remain a dominant trader in the markets for at least the next two years!

So, keep you stock but sell next year or so...and reap the profits.

Support? You really are delusional. As for "(due to marketing rather than technology - in today’s market)" You couldn't be more wrong: This is from a decidedly NOT Apple source, published two days ago:

iPhone 6 outpaces Galaxy S6 in high-end gaming comparison

By Killian Bell — Cult of Android.com — July 13, 2015

Apple’s latest iPhones may be six months older than the Galaxy S6, but they have no problem outpacing Samsung’s flagship — and all other competitors — in a high-end gaming comparison.

GameBench found the iPhone 6 to be top in both frames-per-second and stability across all game types.

In its “Battle of Sixes” comparison, GameBench put the iPhone 6 up against the Galaxy S6, the HTC One M9, and Google’s Nexus 6. It then ran 10 high-end smartphone games on each one, including GTA: San Andreas, Monument Valley, and Marvel: Content of Champions.

The chart below shows the iPhone 6 has a 10 percent average lead across the ten games that GameBench tested.

“The iPhone 6 tended to run games more smoothly, with a higher average frame rate that was very stable and rarely dropped below 30fps,” reads its report. “The Galaxy S6 came a pretty close second, with a greater frequency of performance bottlenecks that pushed the framerate below the 30fps threshold.”

The One M9, which is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 810 processor, and the Nexus 6 showed “serious performance slow-downs in some games,” GameBench found. However, the reasons for those slow-downs aren’t easy to pinpoint.

Charts: GameBench

Charts: GameBench

“We’re totally focused on measuring the way real games play on real devices, in order to provide useful intelligence to game developers and hardware makers,” GameBench says. “Our data can’t always pinpoint the reasons for certain results, because there are so many uncontrolled variables.”

GameBench adds, however, that reasons might include better game optimization for certain platforms, and the fact that some titles play at a higher resolution on the Galaxy S6 than the iPhone 6 (1080p vs. 720p) because of its sharper Quad HD display.

Keep in mind that this report touting the superiority of the iPhone 6 was published on an Android centric website.

Incidentally, the iPhone 6Plus was also faster than the Android phones and it IS 1080p, so that is not the reason.

So your technology meme is false as well as your "due to marketing" meme.

The topic was about the Apple watch (or so I thought). Can you say why Apple has not released sales results for the watch? Please be realistic and not an Apple representative.
