The federal government has awarded the University of California Los Angeles $193,989 in taxpayer funds to study skill-building as HIV prevention for male sex workers in Peru.

The grant was issued by the National Institute of Mental Health, a part of the National Institutes of Health, and proposes “a pilot study for a group that has been neglected in the Peruvian HIV epidemic, namely male sex workers (fletes).”

Men having sex with men in Peru have a “high burden of HIV” at 10 to 15 percent, compared to male sex workers, who have a 23 percent prevalence, researchers found. …

Apparently homosexuality is a very high priority in today’s federal government.

The Obama regime goes all around the world promoting, advertising, encouraging, and funding homosexuality (including in some countries which strongly oppose it, thus ruining more of our international relations)....
and
now we taxpayers have to pay for the predictable consequences, too.

Is your wallet feeling sufficently Transformed yet?

There have been quite a few news stories like this going back a number of years. Obviously the main point of these studies is to fund sex tourism on the part of the principal investigator. Even aside from the particular topic of the research, it’s not clear why The National Instututes of Mental Health thinks it is a reasonable use of taxpayer dollars to be studying the mental health of people in foreign countries.

This projects is not reasonably based on one of Congress’s constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers. And I wouldn’t be surprized if UCLA is oblivious to the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers as the Founding States had intended for those powers to be understood, including not being aware of Supreme Court-clarified constitutional limits on federal government taxing and spending.

I wouldn’t be suprised if constitutionally indefensible Stimulus Program funds are being used for this project. Obama’s first, Democratic-controlled Congress essentially gave Obama a blank check when it passed the Stimulus Program, totally defeating the Founder’s purpose for Clause 1 of Section 7 of Article I imo, the HoR’s “power of the purse,” when it gave Obama the Stimulus Program.

Studying men in Peru..this makes no sense to spend US taxpayer dollars on foreign studies. And whoever selects to approve these Grants needs to be transferred to the mail room.

Men having sex with men in Peru have a “high burden of HIV”

So HIV is like, say, digging a long trench --a big JOB.

And there is some political entity --a boss, if you will-- in the sky divvying up "the work".

Hey if those guys don't like "their burden" why don't they just PUT IT DOWN…?

Hey, I don't dig at all --I've nary a flicker of a memory of budging so much as one SPECK of HIV dirt.

WHY NOT JOIN ME…?

What kind of skills do they think these male prostitutes need to bone up on? How did our government find out that male prostitutes in Peru weren’t good enough at their jobs? Who went on that fact-finding mission??

How nice, that we drag ourselves to work each day so that our earnings can be seized from us, food taken from the mouths of our families, in order to fund bullcrap like this.

Hell I could have told them that for only half the grant. That would be a cool 125,000 dollars.

I could have also told them if you are a man and have sex with multiple male partners you will eventually get HIV and die. I would not have even charged for that advice. If you are a woman do not have sex with men that have sex with men and do not stick needles in your veins. That advice is also free.

Oddly enough sex with women that are HIV positive is relatively low risk but why in the hell even take that risk.
