Conservatives, be careful what you wish for with Mitt Romney (Reality Check)
FOX NEWS ^ | 11/02/2012 | Juan Williams

The truth is, the Tea Party anger that boiled over in response to the President Obama’s healthcare plan had been brewing for years due to conservative disappointment with George W. Bush’s policies. Bush created record-breaking deficits, embraced Congressional earmarks, gained passage of an enormous expansion of Medicare entitlements without funding it, nominated Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court, and backed McCain-Kennedy comprehensive immigration reform.

Principled conservatives like Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity spoke out against the direction of the party, to their credit.

Conservatives must be careful not to abandon their principles out of blind hated for President Obama. In their zeal to make Obama a one-term president, they may just elect someone who ends up implementing policies that are to the left of George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

It got to where it got due to conservatives being unable to be lock step in picking candidates. And the infighting being so great that people started attacking the very candidates that other conservatives wanted. I was for Michele Bachmann and others for Rick Perry. I was for Rick santorum and others for Newt Gingrich. I was for Herman Cain and others were waiting for Sarah Palin to run and she never did. I was looking at Vrigil Goode as a option at one time, but others attacked me for not going lock and step with the GOP’s hand picked candidate Mitt Romney. Now I have no choice but vote Romney because there is no one else as Vorgil will not be on my state’s ballot and I want Obama gone.

As it was pointed out in the Republican debates, ANY of the candidates was better than Obama!

Removing Obama should be #1 priority!

"He strikes me as fair."

Juan Williams strikes you as fair?

If I was talking on the phone to a friend, and they said Juan Williams struck them as fail, I would assume they were having a stroke and would dial 911.

Then, I'd go to my friend to be sure my friend got the best medical care possible.

I'm just sayin'......goldstategop, what do see in Juan Williams that is fair?

We don’t want to defeat Obama and get more of the same from Mittens.

I'd tweak that a bit. It's like Bush was only half as bad as Obama. Bush gave us unfunded Medicare Rx mandates, liberal immigration reform, questionable court appointments and $500 billion deficits. Obama basically multiplied all of that by two. Trillion dollar deficits, ended welfare reform, increased food stamps, Obamacare, etc.

Romney will be no different. It's the lesser of two evils argument. I get the argument for voting for Romney, but it really doesn't hold water, because in essence all conservatives who are holding their noses and pulling the lever for Romney next Tuesday are saying is "America going over the cliff, but we can put the crash off for awhile by defeating Obama."

I don't buy that. The whole point is to stop the thing from going off the cliff. We we need to crash the two-party system in the meantime to accomplish that, then I think it's a price well worth paying.

I'm voting Libertarian.

I definitely didn’t mean to offend you by wondering if your response was in earnest, or sarcasm. I was taken aback that anyone on this site would post a thread giving weight to Juan Williams’ opinion about Romney, so I guess I thought just about anything was possible at this point! :-)

If you see no difference between Marxism than capitalism, then what are you doing on a conservative website?

You are a disgrace, and you should be ashamed of yourself.

You’re both clowns!

Obama’s goal is to ruin America and the ONLY alternative we have today is Romney.
Romney can be reigned in, as he will respect the Constitution and not end run it.

When confronted with 2 undesireable options, you have a responsibility to select the one that will do the least harm.
In the case of abortion, the difference today would be over 45 Million more babies alive, given the difference in their respective positions.

There was a time when smaheful people like you who openly advocated for a Marxist to defeat a capitalist would be permanently banned from Free Republic.

My, how times have changed. Those were saner times.
