The Southern states take WAY more federal funding then the North.

That may be true but the quickest way to stop that BS is to break away from the enablers. You think we southerners like the Feds for doing that? Enabling laziness, buying votes? You are rally stupid if you believe that.

It's like this: Most of that Fed money is going to poor, rural blacks as entiltements. The other large chunk is to military bases: there happens to be a lot of them in the South because we have huge chunks of undeveloped land for the GI's to play in, we're not wearing our disdain for the miilitary like Northern liberals do, and the weather is more amenable to training, flying, etc.

Bu t let's talk about race. There happens to be a lot more poor, rural blacks in the South than anywhere else in the country.

If you took a look at the FBI crime statistics by race, say, here in Alabama, and then you took out the black on black and black on white crime (despite what Yankees think there's VERY little white on black crime) Alabama would have the crime statistics of North Dakota!

Now don't take me wrong! I'd love to see the black folks of Barbour, Butler, Bullock, Dallas, Lowndes, Macon, Merengo, and Wilcox counties get steady middle class level work... But that's not going to happen when the FedGov is passing them “free” money. It will happen when the FedGov gets business friendly by cutting corporate income taxes, all kinds of regulations, and those county governments themselves getting business friendly.

BTW, I work with the Chamber of Commerces in two Alabama counties: Elmore and Bullock. Bullock is 70% black. Bullock county is not business friendly. We're trying to change that. The chamber president and staff are black, but they despair over the attitude most of their fellow blacks have of business.

I am not saying the South likes taking all the money from the North to survive. But if they don’t take it, how will they be able to stand on their own? That is all I am asking. It would be a disaster for the South to be either on their own or in charge as some of you desire. It sounds cool but reality would not be cool.
