While watching a news story on TV about the pastors wife in Tennessee that shot and killed her husband, I told my wife that if it ever got bad enough with her I would just divorce her, not kill her.
I'm hoping after reading this that I can secure from her a promise that if it ever gets that bad she will divorce me rather than have me arrested for charges of rape. This guy could end up going to prison for a number of years.
Even if she hates him now, presumably she loved him at some point, and this seems like a pretty extreme way to end a marriage.
Are you suggesting that a marriage license perhaps creates a legal obligation for a woman to spread her legs for her husband, no matter what?
Are there any other things that would be crimes outside of marriage, that the government should leave alone within it -- beatings, perhaps?
I have to say that the logic of your statement is rather Islamic.
The dictionary I'm looking at doesn't exclude married women from the definition of rape when the perp is her husband.
Using your own logic, since she doesn't want to have sex with him, he can divorce her.
I fail to see in the marriage vows of any recognized religion that marriage means never getting turned down again, and that should it happen, you can take it anyway, at any time, under any circumstances.
Some of you sound like you don't want wives, you want anatomically correct blow up dolls.
