Dixie Chicks Ashamed of Bush, Conservatives Ashamed of Dixie Chicks

Posted on 03/14/2003 8:54:57 AM PST by Dixicrat

Recently, in an overseas concert, the Dixie Chicks told their audience that they were ashamed that Bush was from Texas. In the backlash that has followed, they insisted that the statement was made because they have been so overcome by the anti-Americanism overseas. However, they said it is their right as Americans to voice their opinions. In light of this, I guess it wasn't really the anti-Americanism overseas, but the anti-Americanism within their own hearts that they felt they had a right to voice.

Fortunately in America, I am not forced to buy the CDs of a particular group. So I will exercise my freedom to listen to Americans rather than anti-Americans. I will throw away every Dixie Chick CD in my possession and buy no more. Moreover, as a Texan I must say I am ashamed that the Dixie Chicks are from Texas.

The radio boycott is spreading. Glad some stations also have the right to only play certian songs if they choose too!

Don't throw them away! Send them back to their record label with a letter explaining why you will no longer buy the Blixe Chicks CD's. Just a thought.

AP/Herald Tribune.com ^ | Mar 14 03
The Dixie Chicks are drawing harsh words from country music fans for remarks singer Natalie Maines made about President George W. Bush during a recent performance in London. Maines told the audience earlier this week, "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas." Angry phone calls flooded Nashville radio station WKDF-FM on Thursday, some calling for a boycott of the Texas trio's music. The group released a statement Thursday saying they have been overseas for several weeks and "the anti-American sentiment that has unfolded here is astounding. While we support our troops, there...

If you tuned in to any of Kansas City's country music stations Thursday, you did not hear the Dixie Chicks. Several stations in town have dumped the group's music over the lead singer's controversial comments about President Bush, KMBC's Jeremy Hubbard reported. At a concert in London earlier this week, Natalie Maines, the band's lead singer said, " Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas." The Guardian, a London paper that reported the comment, said Maines' remark got the crowd cheering. Many local residents, however, were not excited about the singer's point...

The cut, inspired by Woody Guthrie and the Carter Family but penned by Mellencamp, questions President George W. "To Washington" will appear on Mellencamp's next studio album, a collection of covers he is recording in his Bloomington, Ind., homebase with his touring band. The other night, at their opening for their tour in London, they indicated on stage that they were sad to know/hear that our President was from Texas. Again, it is sad to see and hear yet another "celebrity" announcing that they are ashamed of their President of their Unites States. I just wish we would get over and get back so that these "celebrities" would quit using all of these Grammy, Emmy, own concert "stages" to provide their political saitre.

They should change their names to the French Whores.

I wonder if they thought yet about the tendency of dixie to not go for liberal BS? Especially country music fans. I hope their sales drop.

I'm going to buy the Darryl Worley CD Have you Forgotten (featured on Fox in the morning and Hannity and the Crypt Keeper)when it comes out - a very get Saddam pro America kind of song.
