Even I remember yesterday when, for a few hours, Nikki Haley was the fave.

Doug Burgum on Free Trade

Trade war with China, & tariffs, hurting domestic farmers These proposed tariffs are particularly concerning for North Dakotans considering China is our fourth-largest export market and a major buyer of our agricultural products, including our No. 1 export market for soybeans. Disrupting that trade relationship puts our farmers at a disadvantage, and we urge the administration to negotiate a deal that benefits U.S. producers and blocks these proposed retaliatory tariffs from taking effect.

We need tariffs if we are to survive as an industrialized nation. Mabve most right wingers don't give crap about that. I sure as hell do...

Two empires get into a war, one makes ships, planes and tanks the other is a "major producer of soy beans." Which one wins?

I agree that this is what Trump has in mind for Burgum. He mentioned Burgum’s knowledge of energy at the rally in NJ.

Trump needs to pick someone soon to do some campaigning while all this lawfare is keeping him tied up.

He needs someone the RATs and RINOs do not like to be his VP.

No Tim Scott. He is a McConnell sycophant and has been for years. He can’t be trusted.

We are looking for someone to be VP with US in mind first before any other country.

wiki excerpt——Gov Burgum vetoed a bill to raise the state interstate speed limit to 80 mph.

During the 2023 legislative session, he signed a bill that exempts members of the North Dakota National Guard and reserve from paying income tax, and another that provides over $500 million in tax relief.

Burgum and other North Dakota officials have threatened to sue Minnesota over a law that would require the state’s electricity to come from sources that do not emit carbon dioxide.[54] Minnesota governor Tim Walz signed the bill on February 7, 2023.[55]

In an attempt to mitigate the shortage of schoolteachers,[56] Burgum announced the creation of a Teacher Retention and Recruitment task force that would consist of multiple members, Burgum, and the North Dakota Superintendent of Public Instruction.[57]

In October 2023, Burgum condemned Hamas’s attack on Israel and noted that 84 North Dakotans on a church tour were stranded in Bethlehem as the fighting began.[58] The group made it over the border to Jordan a few days later.[59]

Burgum was reported to have spent more money on advertisements than any other presidential candidate.[66]

Burgum was endorsed by North Dakota’s entire Congressional delegation, Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer and Representative Kelly Armstrong.[67][68] He was also endorsed by actor Josh Duhamel.[69]

Burgum expressed support for the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision. His support derived from the belief that abortion restrictions should be left to states to decide. Burgum pledged that as president he would not sign a national abortion ban. He said the president should not focus on culture war issues. According to Politico, Burgum sought to play up his stance as a hawk toward China by speaking of a cold war with China.[70]

On July 10, 2023, Burgum began offering $20 gift cards for a donation of any amount to his primary campaign. A spokesman for Burgum acknowledged that this was an attempt to reach the threshold of individual donors required to participate in the first Republican primary debate.[71] The scheme was successful, and on July 25, Burgum qualified for the debate after also meeting the polling threshold.[72] Despite its success, the scheme was ridiculed on social media, with some users declaring that they had donated $1 to Burgum and $20 to Joe Biden’s reelection campaign.[73][74] Federal election officials have not said whether this and similar fundraising by other candidates is illegal.[75] Burgum also qualified for the second debate, held on September 27.[76] Burgum failed to qualify for the November 5 debate in Miami.[77]

On December 4, Burgum announced he was suspending his campaign, citing frustration with the RNC’s high threshold of donations and polling to qualify for debates.

That Scott would even be considered to be in the running is ridiculous.

Tim Scott is Benedict Pence in black-face.

it’s gonna be tim scott: he’s already out today stumping for Donald Trump today and being labeled “a Trump surrogate” ...

and he’s doing a pretty good job too ...

i got to thinking that another bomb-thrower like Kari Lake as Trump VP would be red meat for we ultra-conservatives, but an apparently more reasoned and moderate voice for VP might be a welcome balance for many voters relative to Trump’s wonderful bombastic style ...

Yawn.... brings nothing to the table...

Burgum is a billionaire. He brings THAT to the table!

Plus, Trump likes billionaires.

Another thing he might bring to the table, being a social moderate, are women voters. And Haley voters. Trump has already sewn up the MAGA vote. Now he needs to close the deal with everyone else.

YOU deserve DeSantis. Those of us who can see that he’s an establishment tool, don’t deserve to be saddled with him.

Burgum appears to be reliable, competent and loyal. That’s more than enough. Trump doesn’t need a VP to help him get elected. He just needs a VP who doesn’t lose him votes.
