American is set to get a new fleet of 'doomsday planes' that some have said signal the nation could be preparing for World Ward III.
The US Air Forced announced a $13 billion contract to develop craft to replace the aging Boeing planes that are used to protect the president during a nuclear attack.
The funds were awarded to Sierra Nevada Corp, which will design a successor to the E-4B 'Nightwatch' that features a mobile command post capable of withstanding nuclear blasts and electromagnetic effects.
The project, called Survival Airborne Operations Center, is expected to be completed by 2036.
The current war climate has some believing the world is heading toward a nuclear war, as Russia has threatened to place nukes in space.
The Ukrainian war with the nation is still continuing and now there is conflict in the Middle East between Israel and Palestine.
The Air Force has a fleet of four E-4Bs, with at least one on alert at all times, but the Boeings are aging and many parts have become obsolete.
Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC), an American aerospace company, said: 'SNC is building the airborne command center of the future!
'SAOC is a highly specialized aircraft that ensures continued critical command, control and communication during national emergencies for POTUS, Secretary of Defense and Joint Chiefs of Staff.
'We're honored to support this important mission.'
Boeing was let go as the sole provider of the doomsday planes in December 2023 after the company and US military could not agree on pricing for the next-generation fleet.
Details of SNC's design have not been shared, but the craft will likely resemble the current E-4B 'Nightwatch.'

Who writes this crap that “some say” the US is preparing for WW3?
They’re replacing an existing system.
I’m pretty sure there’s an expert in there somewhere.
We are developing a new plane because of increasing nuclear tensions but it won’t be ready for 10 years.
Don’t need an expert to know that a system designed to survive WW3 is, by definition, “preparing for WW3”.
Not the same as planning to launch WW3.
Waste of money protecting the arseho Joe that keeps irritating and inflaming a start to WWIII with his stupidity.

So only the President survives the nuclear attack - what will he do then?
Replacement for E4B has been in planning since at least 2019.
A***h*** Joe will be long dead before this deploys. It will affect whomever is in charge a decade on.
Institutions and systems persist beyond individuals, which should, rationally, limit our obsessions with individuals.
I guarantee SNC is not “design(ing) a successor to the E-4B”, unless it’s going to be a version of their Dreamchaser, and only carry a couple of people. SNC has no such capability to design and produce a jumbo jet. They will still have to choose either Boeing or Airbus, with SNC perhaps designing the internal systems.
So the prez flies around, and when he lands he is the only one left, right?
Joe will be dead and (presumably) in Hell long before 2036.
Nuclear war is sad and awful but it no longer has the same dark effect on me since I found Christ. We all die and granted some deaths are far more horrific and gruesome than others but for those saved by the blood of Jesus the end result means being resurrected in the arms of Jesus and finding my place at the right hand of God.
$13 Billion?… to protect a cadaver?
