The numbers are in — Americans do not want illegal immigrants in the country any longer.
An online survey conducted by Axios asked 6,251 adults in between March 29 and April 14 whether they support “mass deportations of undocumented immigrants.51 percent of Americans supported the idea.
While perhaps 51 percent — a slight majority — may not seem like a lot, it does when looking at the general picture.
This wasn’t a survey asking about border security or funding or separating families. It was a survey asking whether respondents agreed with mass deportation, something many people would have considered extreme not so very long ago.
The breakdown is also quite surprising, because the issue is clearly no longer Republican only.
Of course, there is a strong majority of right-wing Americans supporting the idea, as 68 percent of GOP respondents supported the idea, but it’s still quite popular among Democrats and Independents.
A strong 46 percent of Independents and a surprising 42 percent of Democrats said they, too, support mass deportation of illegal immigrants.
Additionally, the survey asked whether Americans supported ending birthright citizenship, something currently guaranteed under the 14th Amendment.
While the majority didn’t support it, 46 percent of Republicans and 30 percent of Democrats responded positively to the idea.
The Axios Vibes survey by The Harris Poll was based on what was described as “a nationally representative sample of 6,251 U.S. adults.” It was conducted online, March 29-31; April 5-7; and April 12-14, 2024. The margin of error was plus or minus 1.5 percentage points.
What’s clear is that Americans want actions to not only deal with the hundreds of thousands of migrants who continue to cross the border, but also the millions who are already within the country.

I’m okay with a death penalty. The crime of illegally crossing should be upgraded to that.
Implement eVerify for all workers.
No more worker visas for anyone not a citizen. Rely on your sponsor or leave.
Rescind all work visas.
Reschedule all hearings to occur in next year. Anyone not rescheduling or attending, gets a permanent deportation order.
Incentivize local law enforcement to round up illegals that they come in contact with. Maybe $1,000 per illegal that is turned over and deported to the department and to the officer(s).
Americans should be allowed to identify them for years to come and then turn them over to authorities for deportation or jail.

Among the illegals, are not getting people who are going to be net taxpayers (people who, even if they work and pay some taxes, would pay more taxes than their government benefits)

Supporting deportation and doing it are 2 different things.
We need to amend the constitution so you'll have to acquire your citizenship by Jus sanguinis, principle of nationality law by which nationality is determined or acquired by the nationality of one or both parents.
Imho, that should be carried out at the border as they cross into our country. Let them pile up and the buzzards can do cleanup.

I blame the politicians much more than the crossers. It’s just human nature to go where economic conditions are better, often safer, and you are being offered lots of free stuff.

The Home Office will launch a major operation to detain asylum seekers across the UK on Monday, weeks earlier than expected, in preparation for their deportation to Rwanda, the Guardian can reveal.
Officials plan to hold refugees who turn up for routine meetings at immigration service offices or bail appointments and will also pick people up nationwide in a surprise two-week exercise.
Lawyers and campaigners said the detentions risked provoking protracted legal battles, community protests and clashes with police – with officers in Scotland put on high alert.
Enver Solomon, the chief executive of the Refugee Council, said: “The government is determined to recklessly pursue its inhumane Rwanda plan despite the cost, chaos and human misery it will unleash. We know it is likely to cause a catastrophic system meltdown.”
Detainees will be immediately transferred to detention centres, which have already been prepared for the operation, and held until they are put on planes to Rwanda. Some will be put on the first flight due to take off this summer.
The Home Office said ratification of the prime minister’s Safety of Rwanda Act meant “the government is entering the final phase of operationalising this landmark policy to tackle illegal migration and stop the boats”.
It added: “At some stage inevitably this will include detaining people in preparation for the first flight, which is set to take off to Rwanda in 10 to 12 weeks. It would be inappropriate to comment further on operational activity.”
