Another great easy to understand book on economics is Henry Hazlitt’s “Economics in One Lesson”.

How to Lie with Statistics.

Short book and quick read. A bit dated but after reading that, you’ll never believe another poll or *study* again.

Oh, read it! Read it! He will make you understand economics well enough that you can explain things like the role of prices in an economy, how economics is the study of the utilization of scarce resources that have multiple uses, and so on.

It is brilliantly and approachable written. No math that I can remember. All concept with examples.

Recently, my Republican Town Committee took part in a town activity where we set up a booth, and as a way to get people to stop (because most people are scared to death to make eye contact with anyone occupying a political booth, especially in my blue town in a blue state!) we had a free raffle!

We knew someone with access to some products like bluetooth speakers and such, got them for low money or free, and I offered to buy some books to include in the free raffle. One was “Witness” by Whittaker Chambers. Another was Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell, and the last one that was never claimed by the winner, was “The Conscience of A Conservative” by Barry Goldwater.

I took that one home with me...:)
