So, I could starve myself and live longer hungry all the time? What a deal!

They say substituting cucumber slices for potato chips can take almost 90% off your joy of life.

Nobody wants to hear about your diet. Shut up and eat your salad.

>> “You know, just slow the wheels down and the tires will last longer.”

Therefore “Leave the car parked in the garage and the tires will last a really long time!”

But long life isn’t the purpose of the tire. The car is meant to transport people where they need to go at a speed that enables them to use their time for better things than getting from Point A to Point B. And the tires are meant to support that use of the car.

Is there a corollary for fasting? I know that after 24 hours of fasting I do not think as clearly and certainly do not perform at physical tasks with the same performance as when I am adequately fed. Is a long life of reduced performance a noble goal?

I remember a Longevity researcher that was in the public limelight for quite awhile advocating this. I believe he died at around 42 years old. Comparable to Jim Fixx dying so young. Big news at the time years ago. Probably back in the 1980’s.

This isn’t exactly news.

This has been known, for a long long long time.

300 pounders don’t typically make it past a certain age... I.E. You don’t see a lot of overweight people in nursing homes, because they don’t make it to that age.

It makes sense. The old people I know who are healthy tend to be lean and light eaters who often skip meals.

“Here’s what that means.”
If it means totalitarians like the New York Times and other Democrats get to decide what I can eat, then F them.

If so then I should live to 210 or so- only have eaten 2 times a day- a “breakfast/lunch” meal (sandwich, soda and Frappuccino), then a dinner (about 4-6 ounce of some kind of meat, chicken, pork or beef, and a veggie if available), then later a soda, maybe a snack of a few candies or pretzels.)

Have eaten this way for many decades now, even when I was working, but admittedly, the 2 meals were a little larger, but not by much. I can’t recall having eaten 3 .meals in a day.

I thought the article mentioned intermittent farting. Thought I had it made there for a moment.

Wow! Not being a gluttonous corpulent hambeast is a key to longevity? Who knew?

Turns out, much of the funding behind this whole "body positivity" and "healthy at any size" movement comes from Unilever, the nation's number one producer of ice cream.

All theory. In real life, I watched a neighbor literally starve herself to be “fit” ... she actually once cut a blueberry in two to share with her husband...and it was the only blueberry (dessert). She died weighing 98 pounds, ... she was “fit!” but she died.
