John Cougar Mellencamp Ends Show in Middle of a Song Because Crowd Wanted Music, Not TDS Lecture

He exited the stage. Mellencamp did end up returning after cooling off backstage. He played several more songs for the crowd, but it’s obvious that he’s still a bit bothered. In fact, he openly vented about the experience to The Washington Post.
“It just hits me sideways,” he said about fan etiquette at his shows. He didn’t specifically namedrop the show in question, but it’s clear that he still feels some hard feelings after the performance. Mellencamp said don’t come to his shows expecting to party, which goes against what most people love about concerts.

Fans at the event need to demand a refund for his unprofessional and child like behavior.

I have always enjoyed his music, but have never been to a concert. Lectures in that setting wouldn’t sit well with me, even if I agreed with them.
If Johnny boy wants to get political so bad, instead of whining about a cause or candidate he loves or hates, he should just run for office himself since he considers himself a big expert on how our country should be run. If not, he should just pipe down. Nobody values his opinions.

A month is a lifetime in news and social media. This appears to be a staged faux outrage for a man who’s done nothing but give us the gift of his songs, music and talent. I may not agree with his views but so what?

From what I can dig up, he's a Christian, travels with his family, and his wife homeschools the kids.

Saw Bruce Springsteen last month in San Diego. At least he was smart enough to avoid political rants.
The only time I had to deal with a political rant in a concert was The Forum in LA a few years ago. Josh Groban lectured between songs about how he doesn’t talk politics during his concerts, but we can all agree that illegal alien children can stay here, right? Dude was taken aback when all he got was a small smattering of applause and a few boos.
It’s times like these where I question if our electorate in California is as far to the left as elections show.
