Trump Calls on Arizona to Use ‘HEART’ and ‘COMMON SENSE’ to ‘IMMEDIATELY’ Pass Pro-Choice Legislation in Arizona

President Donald Trump called on the Arizona legislature to use “HEART” and “COMMON SENSE” and pass a pro-choice bill in a post on Truth Social Friday.

“The Supreme Court in Arizona went too far on their Abortion Ruling, enacting and approving an inappropriate Law from 1864. So now the Governor and the Arizona Legislature must use HEART, COMMON SENSE, and ACT IMMEDIATELY, to remedy what has happened,” wrote Trump. “Remember, it is now up to the States and the Good Will of those that represent THE PEOPLE. We must ideally have the three Exceptions for Rape, Incest, and Life of the Mother. This is important! Democrats are the EXTREMISTS – They support Abortion up to the moment of birth, and even execution of Babies, in some cases, after birth. This should not be. Arizona Legislature, please act as fast as possible!”

Earlier this week, the state Supreme Court in Arizona decided that an old law predating the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade outlawing abortion except for when the mother’s life is threatened was still valid. Trump’s call for the expansion of abortion rights in the Grand Canyon State comes just days after he promised not to back any pro-life legislation if he retakes the White House this November and represents an implicit retraction of his call for states to navigate the abortion debate on their own.

“My view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it. From a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land, in this case, the law of the state,” explained Trump in a statement earlier this week. “Many states will be different. Many will have a different number of weeks, or some will have more conservative than others. And that’s what they will be at the end of the day. This is all about the will of the people. You must follow your heart or in many cases, your religion or your faith. Do what’s right for your family and do what’s right for yourself. Do what’s right for your children. Do what’s right for our country, and vote.”

Kari Lake, the Republican candidate for Senate in Arizona, has also called for pro-choice legislation in the state and promised not to support any federal bans on abortion if she’s elected.

It NEEDS to happen, or the endgame will overtake this country.

Patience and persistence is key, IMO.

...due to RvW, that mindset has proliferated through our society for several generations.

True.

And this is why we're going to be stuck with abortion for a long time to come.

The way they feel about Abortion is the way I feel about gun rights, and our side MUST ballot harvest gun holders votes, especially at gun shows.

“The rape/incest/life of mother exceptions are just talking points. …rare….” Yes, but they go a long way with the people who aren’t so far left they want the ability to kill the baby up to and after birth. If we’re serious about saving lives then we can save some to a lot while working to move the center to the right. Hardliners can feel wonderful about maintaining perfect principles while enabling the left.

And they also have a right to whine and bitch when Democrats regain power and pass universal abortion rights legislation once more - even if their decision helped to bring it about.

No, they don't have that right.

I think Trump is politically correct.

Demoncrats are gearing up to drive women to the polls over abortion - painting it the most extreme way they can.

Many Republicans are giving them ammo.

Trump is taking a long-standing political compromise position.

If we expect to win office, something like that has to be the message nationally.

If you don’t want to win office, you will end up with worse.

Nevertrumping desantis supporters want Trump to cause himself and the republican party to self destruct by having an absolute abortion ban....

because for them, it’s worth it for them to keep Trump out of office, even if the country goes full blown socialist or marxist with biden and the left winning the 2024 elections

Life liberty and pursuit of happiness was as hypocritical a theme in 1864 as it is in 2024..

No- The difference is that his opinion will be his national policy. We are not talking about your next door neighbor. He should have just kept his mouth shut.

You bring up a fascinating historical parallel. I've been saying that the 2024 election will end up looking like the 1860 election and most likely with a similar aftermath.

Lincoln was not an abolitionist. He and his party were aimed at reversing Dred Scott by keeping slavery out of the territories and preventing its re-establishment in states that had abolished it. This quarantine of slavery was a compromise between the ardent pro-slavery position of the Deep South and the extreme abolitionist position from Ohio and New England that had gone mainstream after the publication of Uncle Tom's Cabin in 1852.

Lincoln and the Republicans stood squarely in the middle, although that turned out to be too much with the Deep South.

I saw a story elsewhere that said Arizona had passed a statute in 2022 establishing a 15 week limit, presumably with the usual exceptions regarding significant and carefully defined physical health risks to the mother. I presume this would have been done after the USSC ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson.

If that is correct, the Arizona Supreme Court apparently held that an 1864 statute supersedes a 2022 statute on the same matter. Political gamesmanship was the first thought that came to mind, but I don’t know anything about the composition of the Arizona Supreme Court.

The pro-abortion response, however, was entirely predictable. Once again, they have run up a false flag and are using the 1864 statute to drum up support for a bait and switch constitutional amendment with open-ended language intended to abolish not only time limits but parental notification and consent, informed consent, fathers’ rights, counseling on alternatives to abortion including adoption, etc.

My point is Trump’s hypocritical position regarding Federalism.

Good for me but not for thee?

What about all of the Californians, who’ve invaded AZ?

I read, the other day, that AZ is only 30% pro-life.

(Will have to try to find the poll source. Maybe it was Planned Parenthood 😱)

Strategy.

John 11:50

God literally let his son die, brutally on a cross for the greater good. No one on this board wants babies to be killed before they even get a chance at life but we’re dealing with a reality. Not everyone agrees to 0 abortions and 0 exceptions. If you keep losing you won’t be fighting for 15 weeks, that’s certain.

A baby is inside the womb from the start until day of birth. Murder is never justified.
