Thanks for the background. For whatever reason, this whole thing was clearly mishandled by the AZ Legislature and Governor when they crafted their 2022 legislatioin.
Yup, the legislature blew it in crafting the 15 week bill.
They never dreamed the SC would repeal Roe.
That is the first idea I thought, as well. It was too confusing about How this could happen in a leftist state.

If I properly understood, it was the AZ SC who acted, but only in the absence of action by the AZ state legislature.
If correct, the Court must have accepted a particular case on the issue, forcing this outcome. Right?
Due to the DOBBS decision by the US SC, the AZ Court had to comply with that decision. They were not authorized to legislate any exceptions.

Someone upthread made a brilliant point, about the results if Biden should cheat to a “W”, on November 5th. The multitudes of abortions that could result are astonishing and a political promise.

Thanks for the background info. You appear to know more about the details of the case than I do. I don’t KNOW that this was a political move on the part of the AZ Supreme Court, but, IMO, it’s at least worth considering. And regardless of whether it was intentional or not, it’s effects are clearly detrimental to Trump’s chances to win AZ this year - not necessarily fatally, but it will make winning more difficult.
