Must be because of Climate Change. Or Trump.
Or the Eclipse tomorrow.

With 1500 hours in a Lockheed C130, I can guarantee that Boeing doesn’t have the market cornered on inflight emergencies. Nearly 1 in 4 flights ended with an engine shutdown.

I’m leaning to heightened media attention.

But I wish Boeing would get back to the reliability I experienced in 1000 hours in a Boeing KC-135.

Boeing KC-135

You must have been either a pilot or boom operator. Which one?!?!? Inquiring minds want to know. I used to work for a refueling squadron until early last year.

But loose panels, blown engines, bird strikes, flat and missing tires, poor piloting, cracked windshields, and other such events are not related to the plane's design. If anything, the fact that no one is hurt in these events and the plane always safely lands IS.

A very germane point. People just don't quite seem to understand how safe modern air travel is.

This never would have happened on Herb Kellerher’s watch.

No worse than your mechanic not closing the hood after an oil change, only at 550 mph and 3,000 ft, instead of 60 on the freeway.

At least the engine cover doesn’t block your view...

You sound like “been there”.....

It is scary...Back in the ‘60’s when I was in the military, I flew (not a pilot or anything) to get from place to place quite a bit and never worried...

Today, I don’t think I’ll ever get on a plane again....

I couldn’t tell if they hit V-1 / VR

I kept expecting them to rotate

“Comments?”

DEI can only give an advanced society ONE RESULT. Boeing should have told the feds to SHOVE IT with their (likely) threats and demands, and told the feds to find new suppliers if they don’t like it. It’s time to STOP ‘quietly’ acceding to these demands, or corporate America will be out of business anyway.

DEI basically GUARANTEES, in the case of Boeing for instance, that there will be unqualified personnel including blacks in critical positions whose incompetence can lead to death and destruction.

DEI really is killing us.

“DEI really is killing us.”

...and South Africa is the PERFECT case study, but ONLY if we’re willing to learn from other countries (and we will, soon enough, once the Neocons are spanked once and for all in Ukraine).

Could be and I hope he is qualified, but this decrepit DEI gov’t disparity policy DEMANDS that the 13% black population be represented by at least 13% in admissions, graduation, and hiring in EVERY field regardless of testing results, ability, or knowledge. This DEI policy is literally killing us.

13%?

The contractual extortion forcing many firms to hire Didn't Earn It (DEI) contractors passed the 13% mark already.

My GF works at Fairchild and I visit the base occasionally. And great airshow a couple years ago. Haven’t heard any plans for this year...

That would be a dumb thing to sabotage because the plane could still fly successfully without those cowl sections (at lower speed).
