Prescription Advice

Posted on 03/21/2024 5:42:25 PM PDT by Mean Daddy

Got over a three week battle with what my doctor thought was COVID. At the end of the three weeks, I was huffing and puffing after walking up a flight of stairs despite walking four miles a day regularly. I started having what I thought were leg cramps and it turned out that I have a blood clot after seeing the doctor. Yes, I had three vaccinations when they became available and no more. The doctor doesn't think its associated with my recent bout since I wasn't tested.

My question is they put me on Eliquis which is a couple hundred bucks per prescription (30 days). Just got a $10 co-pay but not sure how much will apply. My question is, are people sending their prescriptions to Canada or what other options are there? From what I read, sending them to Canada for fulfillment is legal but not sure how to get started. Canada costs are significantly lower vs. US pharmacy costs.

My mom had a watchman installed last year. She’s doing great now but that was after her surgeon punctured the left side of her heart during the procedure and she almost died. “Known risk “, they said. Her cardiologist group has been with her for 15 plus years at that time. It was a nightmare and the entire episode probably took 3 years off her life. Beware

I’ve been taking Eliquis for about the same amount of time as you. I’ve never had any problem with excessive bleeding from a wound, etc.

Imagine getting into a serious car wreck. You could easily die from bleeding for no reason. Also blood thinners makes your heart work less, great right? If you have a healthy heart, you need that resistance to keep it strong. Like building a bicep or any other muscle. Resistance makes it stronger. If you have a weak heart Like stage 4 heart failure, then yes, you need baby aspirin or an anti-platelet or anti-coagulant.

I read that Watchman is for A-fib. My problem is a DVT in my thigh, so it sounds like it probably wouldn’t be an option for me.

Canada is $120 for 3 months, US is $450.

If Only! My Medicare costs for 3 months is only $70.00 Non Medicare costs would be $1,581.34

Yes, mom’s problem was a fib. The watchman is a device that plugs up the arterial appendage, where blood tends to pool and can cause clots. Check with your doctor for more specifics. My mom had it done because she was just done with blood thinners… They were killing her

Not stage 4 anything. Not near death. Very healthy. I’m closer to 80 than 70, and Eliquis is the only prescription I have. But my my blood clots too easily. DVTs. Chest with many clots after mastectomy.

I do need better doctors. Since Covid, almost everybody does since most docs sold their souls to the devil.

I chew up two 81mg baby aspirin every morning. It works for me. If I nick or cut myself the blood takes a while to clot. Just my observation.

Plain old cheap baby aspirin can work as well as a low dose of warfarin and if I had developed clotting issues after getting three covid inject,
I certainly would not get another.

I’m on it for life because I have afib. I’m healthy otherwise, swim 800 to 1,000 yards at the Y every day and I’m not suffering from anything else.

I take eliquis to prevent having a stroke.

I have AFib, was on Eliquis for 2-1/2 years without any real issues, much better than my late brother’s experience with Warfarin. Then had Watchman to get off the blood thinners and any concerns with the potential for bleeding problems.

“My Medicare costs for 3 months is only $70.00”

What prescription plan are you on? An advantage? A Plan D?

“Long term, I take nattokinase which has been proven to break up clots.”

Not proven.
