A devastated mother has claimed her 16-year-old daughter died after being badly beaten by bullies at her California high school.
Shaylee Mejia, 16, collapsed just days after she was attacked inside a bathroom at Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles.
Video of the incident on March 5 shows the teenage girl having her hair dragged and hitting her head against a stall before she fell down. Numerous punches are exchanged by the girls involved in the fighting throughout the brawl.
Mejia's mother, Maria Juarez, said her daughter complained about headaches for several days but continued to attend school before she went to a party the following Saturday night, according to KTLA.
Mejia suffered a hemorrhage due to brain injuries and collapsed while at the party. She was rushed to hospital but never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead on March 15.
'Everybody knows about my daughter hitting her head, the teachers too,' Juarez said. 'Everybody knows.'
Mejia did not tell her mother about the fight because she didn't want her to worry or take time off from work.
The incident was captured on video by other students and it shows the young girl being viciously beaten while others stand and watch.
Mejia said her daughter was suffering from headaches in the days following the horrific attack but still went to school.
But, she later fainted at the party and a friend said that she fell down and stopped talking, Juarez said.
The teen was taken to the hospital and heartbreaking photos show her lying in a hospital bed on a ventilator.
She died six days later, on March 15, and her mother believes her daughter died from severe injuries she sustained in the bathroom fight.

While I am appalled to see to what depths America has been driven to I would equally hate to live in the America your statements evokes, one where there is no equal justice under the law, an America where children are abandoned in schools where they do not learn, are corrupted and preyed upon by staff and students and that is OK because IYO their mothers might vote for leftists.
I pity you. All the women in my extended family and most of the women I come in contact with are conservatives who support Donald Trump. You seem sadly to inhabit a different circle.
The eagerness of some to believe the liberal lies that women vote overwhelmingly for the left may be informed by the lies of the liberal polls and press who whistle in the dark. They have obviously not been to Trump rallies.
The actual interrogation of voting patterns show women slightly more likely to vote for leftists ~10-15%. This exposes the ridiculousness of pretending that any particular woman is likely to have voted left. The Republicans who ran in the elections just prior to Trump were squishes, RINO and did not inspire confidence nor did they keep their promises. It is not surprising that support for the GOP waned in those years. The corrupt and venial GOP is to blame for the loss of support from all Americans not just the support of some women.
I can only hope that those who love America and love equal justice will not follow your lead in finding convoluted paths to blame the victimized instead of addressing the issues and root causes.

I went to this high school. It was at least 85% black when I went there. Now, it’s 85% Hispanic.
There are many excellent public schools…….they don’t make the news .

The government schools are pushing Cultural Marxism in the form of diversity, equity and inclusion as well as Critical Race Theory. This pits Blacks against other races because they think other races oppress them.This is what you call paranoia.

I’m shocked that so many conservatives still send their children to public school. Especially the suburbanite middle-class teens who are old enough to be at home by themselves during the day. Parents can set a curriculum of work to be completed each day and even video monitor their teen at home to make sure he/she is sticking to the set schedule.
As I’ve mentioned here before, all my grandchildren are home-schooled. Their parents set their work schedules so that one is at home most of the time and since the eldest is almost 16 he can now monitor the younger ones for short periods of time. It takes sacrifices and you may have to take a lower-paying flex-schedule job and do without that new EV or latest cellphone but it can be done.
Not only will your child learn more but they have a greater chance of finishing their school day alive.
