The Pythogorean Theorem was used to put at least one murderer behind bars. Take that, DNA:

How does the Pythagorean theorem figure into the murder case?

Babylonians used Pythagorean theorem 1,000 years before it was 'invented' in ancient Greece

Poor Homer. I’ll give him credit for trying. But he got it wrong.

And as a side note, what’s the deal with the guy at the right?
Does he think Homer might be correct?

Geometry, trigonometry, algebra, differential equations and even imaginary complex numbers were founded using the Pythagorean theorem.

Remember the people of the Lost Colony?

They were never found because they had carved the cryptic word SOHCAHTOA. It was all Greek to the search parties.

Yup. Plagiarism eons before Harvard. But dude was the rock star of his time and forwarded intellectual exploration and higher learning. I thought a Golden Thigh was just the perfect piece of chicken.

Did he claim to have discovered the theorem? I’ve never seen that. He was certainly a great teacher and leader. I think he’s justly famous for that.

Yes, people discovered North America before Columbus, but Pythgoras passed it down as universal knowledge.

Do kids still learn Pythagorean Theorem? Triangles?

I’m a retired public high school teacher. When I first started teaching 30 some years ago, I taught math. Geometry was its own separate course. And it was based on formal proofs. Given this, prove that.

It was a great course, as it taught logical and organized thinking. So naturally the school board got rid of it. Near the end of my career, I taught physics. And we used the Pythagorean Theorem often. It has many practical applications.

If that rule applied to schools today no “climate scientist” could get in

Most people won’t understand the Pythagorean Thereom until the wizard gives them a brain.

Believe it or not, the Pyhagorean Theorem is quite handy in landscaping.

What theorem is used in the Wizzard of Oz? About the isosclese triangle? I knew that I was smart when I knew what the Scarecrow was talking about when he defined an isosclese triangle.

It all went down hill from there.

Fo sho. Lots of landscapers use the 3', 4', 5' shortcut to layout square corners where they're needed, like on hardscapes or beds. Measure 3' one direction, 4' in a right angle, and confirm the angle with a 5' hypotenuse between the ends of the two.

Piece of pie.

I saw a guy do it putting up a pole barn one time also.
