The U.S. Federal Highway Administration has given states two years to implement all the changes outlined in its new 1,100-page manual released last month, including rules that spells out how signs and other traffic control devices are regulated.
Administration officials said overhead electronic signs with obscure meanings, references to pop culture or those intended to be funny will be banned in 2026...
Among those that will be disappearing are messages such as “Use Yah Blinkah” in Massachusetts; “Visiting in-laws? Slow down, get there late,” from Ohio; “Don’t drive Star Spangled Hammered,” from Pennsylvania; “Hocus pocus, drive with focus” from New Jersey; and “Hands on the wheel, not your meal” from Arizona.

I remember when a cow standing in a swamp, minding its own business, was stopping traffic, because people were worried about the cow’s safety. This happened on the four-mile stretch of Interstate 4 between Sanford and Deltona, FL. So the Florida Highway Patrol put out an electronic sign that said, “The Cow is OK.” The cow moved elsewhere after that, but the next day the sign was still flashing in that spot, and it caused another traffic jam, because now drivers were stopping to look for the cow mentioned by the sign!
One more reason to elect Trump.

Let me guess: fun messages on electronic signs can’t be understood by aliens whizzing by at 140KPH.
Fire everyone in the agency that thought they had the time to issue such a stupid 1000 page directive and dynamite the building they are in since the cancer clearly spreads to occupy all available space and consume all available money. Oh and jail a few of the senior officials for abuse of authority.

I like the creative ones because people might read and remember them. This one is better than:

You will be apprehended and fined by law enforcement officers.
They should say:
“Keep Right Except to Pass”
“Use you turn signal.”
States wasted billions to put up those signs and now feds are telling them what they can’t say.

Someone near here hijacked the control of the light sign for lane construction closures and made it say “Danger. Zombies Ahead!”
Took most of a day for authorities to override the hack.
