It was a Saturday of scares to end the 2023 college football regular season.
No. 2 Michigan held on to beat No. 3 Ohio State by six thanks to a late interception. No. 8 Alabama needed a miracle fourth-down conversion to avoid an upset by unranked Auburn. No. 4 Washington had to have a field goal as time expired to stay undefeated. No. 5 Florida State overcame a 12-0 deficit at Florida to move to 12-0.
Outside of No. 10 Louisville's loss to Kentucky, there weren't any surprising results at the top of the College Football Playoff rankings in Week 13. And that means the College Football Playoff picture is incredibly muddled with four undefeated teams and four teams with one loss at the top of the rankings. There's a lot to play for during conference championship weekend.

LOL, 1001 victories into three centuries. No other team is even close. ‘The Game’ yesterday reminded me of the Bo & Woody days, good old-fashioned smash mouth.
my respjn se excalty good old school merican football.
90,000 Wolves out shouting 12,000 bucks for over 3 hours. 102,000 yelling and chanting like British soccer fans When Mich strolled through the tunnel lead by the acting coach, and the crowd went crazy and then when ohio came thru and was booed by 90,000 I got a chill up and down my spine.
Afetr all the bad BS this past 3 years, this game was a tonic. 119th meeting of two great legendary teams. And I’m not specifically a fan of either.
Went to Indiana for a family reunion. On the way back to Ohare, I walked the field at Notre dame while the ground crew just waved me on. That was the last time I had that feeling. At south bend you can feel the ghosts of all the legends of Notre Dame.
“Outlined against a blue-gray October sky, the Four Horsemen rode again. In dramatic lore their names are Death, Destruction, Pestilence, and Famine. But those are aliases. Their real names are: Stuhldreher, Crowley, Miller and Layden. They formed the crest of the South Bend cyclone before which another fighting Army team was swept over the precipice at the Polo Grounds this afternoon as 55,000 spectators peered down upon the bewildering panorama spread out upon the green plain below.”
From 1954-2013, the Football Writers Association of America awarded the Grantland Rice Trophy to the national champion. It was retired once the current playoff system started. As we all know, Ohio State won that first undisputed title. I like to think Rice would’ve written some masterful stories of the Buckeyes’ 2014 playoff run.
They just don’t write ‘em like Grantland Rice did anymore, and more’s the pity.
My beloved Pitt Panthers lost again, finishing a terrible 3-9, no bowl game season.
With a tear in my eye, I say “Hail to Pitt”- for next year.
My son is a freshman at Michigan. He’s on a 4-year Army ROTC scholarship. The Army cadets got to go behind the scenes with the College Game Day crew for a tour. He met Brady Quinn, Matt Lienhart, Pat Macafee, and Desmond Howard.
Then he was at the game and rushed the field at the end with all the other crazed students. He’s living the life. I’m both proud and jealous of him at the same time!
We were out there for parents weekend and went to the Purdue game a couple weeks ago. The Big House is awesome! The whole atmosphere is incredible.
As a side note, He’s also a candidate for the Campbell Trophy, which is known as the Academic Heisman.
OSU spotted Michigan 10 points.
The early interception inside the 10 yard line for a touchdown by Michigan and the missed field goal before half time.
Nothing Ryan Day can do about those two plays. If not for the turnover and missed field goal, OSU wins that game.
He got hired at Michigan State.
LOL- OSU had Marvin Harrison Jr, one of the premiere receivers in all of college football the past two decade,s in one on one coverage for most of the first half yet rarely targeted him. Its the same idiot game plan week after week. Rather than continually throw the ball to #18, its a vanilla, non imaginary scheme- despite the fact they have two additional outstanding receivers and a terrific tight end. Meanwhile what did Michigan do on 4th and 1?? Right, play action pass to the TE for a 10 yard gain when everyone thought they were going to run the ball.
But if you watched OSU on a week in, week out basis for years now you would understand.
No surprise CJ Stroud never won the Heisman nor was a serious Heisman contender at OSU (despite being a finalist in 2022) but he’s now tearing up the NFL as a rookie.
DAY is an awful coach who cannot develop QB’s and his team only plays to their level of competition- and he was completely outcaoched by an interim HC yesterday.
When they put the air cast on you know its bad. Sad for him in a variety of ways- he was a potential late 2nd/early 3rd round pick in next April’s draft but will now fall to the 5th or 6th round, or possibly undrafted depending on the break.
The Ducks are looking for revenge after giving you the last game. See it the same as Beavs game. Nix will carve your defense apart like he did everyone else.
The game will be decided by the Oregon DL rushing Penix.

McCord is a mediocre quarterback surrounded by excellence. That interception he threw early on shows it. He can’t run either.
Next year will be a total rebuild year. Buckeyes better be ready to lose to UM next year, too.
PSU? Penn State? Yeah. Penn State is a famous school. They dress up in white and do funny stuff in the showers, and can never beat Ohio State and Michigan.
Yeah, I think he’s done in Gator town.
That game was hard to watch, and even more hard to listen to.
Penix has sucked the last 2 games and Oregon is getting better each game, even though I'm hoping for a Husky win, UO will definitely be favored.
We must have the worst strength and conditioning program in college football.
That was something that Urban Meyer excelled in.
McCord is mediocre- on a good day. He NEVER moves his head away from the primary target, he’s always late with throws and he’s always throwing behind pass catchers. There’s a reason why OSU offered Drake Maye a $7 million NIL package and close to $10 mill for Stroud to stay another season.
And i agree- next year could be a disaster for OSU. Then again this year was a bit of a disaster as well. The offensive line did not play well most of the season, except for yesterday and maybe the Penn State game the d-line got pushed around all year and there are very few starters on that roster who were better players in 2023 than they were in 2022.
I haven't seen a Gator team with players that large in a long time. The Gators can't sustain a physical game for longer than three quarters right now.

Don't be too hard on them, Mich has the best defense in the country as well as the 2nd best pass defense, allowing only 144 passing yards per game and Harrison was the intended receiver of that pass that ended up as an interception early in the game.
That may have altered their passing plans....
