Consider composing your comment in a text editor before copying and pasting it into the FR comment section.

SOunds like either a problem with your PC or with FR server.

In any event you have to eliminate the pssibility that you have spyware on your computer. DOwnload and run Anti Spyware

https://www.superantispyware.com/free-edition.html

If the problem persists, it may be that there is a surveillance program copying yourr text off the FR server and your cpmputer reacts to t by stripping off the text.
Try copying and then pasting a large volume of text such as a whole page of an online article, and see what happens.
It may crash the surveillance program or show symptoms proving that there is surveillance running on FR. I think there is, run by the FIB.(We have a vast right wing conspiracy in our country that needs to be watched. Also Catholics who are pro life need to be watched. Biden FIB is sick)

When your text disappears, sometimes the solution is to right click on anywhere in the text
input area. This will bring up a menu. At the top of the menu is undo. Click it, and your
text will reappear.

Try deleting your browsing history and cookies. That will produce a fresh FR login.

Happens to me, too. Not all the time, though. I’ve assumed it was just some glitch due to running XP and a thoroughly outdated Firefox. Keep meaning to change browsers, but never do.

Happened to me a few years ago - it turned out my mouse had a tiny piece of fuzz in the left button that caused an occasional glitch. You can hear the left button click when you’re going to type in a box but it really didn’t enter because one doesn’t usually look. Be sure to actually look in the typing box to see the cursor blinking then you are OK - at least in my case.

BTW, I love Opera and have using it for almost 20 years across all my devices. Also if you haven’t tried the ‘V7 Notes’ for an extension do so as is it fabulous. Haven’t tried the AI interface yet, we’ll see. Also in many cases for fellow HTML geeks I use that “inspect element” extension to often go around a paywall, ad blocker, cookie editor etc. are handy also.

My age is also advancing - sometimes I move the cursor to the text field and forget to click the button on the mouse...

Lately I get a black square with yellow letters in it at the top of each page. The usual Free Republic symbol is not there .

Sounds like the focus is lost from the fr textbox before you type. Another running app on your system could do that, or perhaps another browser instance.

I’ve caused it by accidentally hitting a touchpad.

Could also be a hardware problem, like dirt in the mouse mentioned above.

Occasionally, when I’m posting a new thread, and going between the FR and source page, filling-out all those posting fields and copying text from the article, my text doesn’t appear on the FR page, also.

What’s happened — also using Opera (Version:95.0.4635.90) with Google — is that one of my fingers — “fat fingers” syndrome — has hit/also bumped a another/second key and the cursor is somehow blanked-out everywhere. Where it goes, I don’t know, except that it’s somehow in “cursor limbo”.

I use Norton 360 Premium, Norton Utilities Premium, CCleaner Pro, MalwareBytes Premium Plus, and have intentionally scanned the browser (leave it open during scan) to see if it was compromised in any way, and it seemingly wasn’t.

I just re-type my original thought and yes, it’s always different from the original typing, in some way.

Most likely it is your computer (or more likely your keyboard, is it wireless?)

Happened to me just last evening, but I was mildly inebriated, for which reason I am hesitant to invoke a third party.

It has to do with where the focus is. If you lose focus on the field, you are typing into nowhere. That can sometimes be caused by malware or an app taking focus away. Run a Malware scan
