I am taking Prescribed Eliquis 5 mg Blood Thinner. With my UHC Advantage Plan I can get a 90 day supply(180 pills) for $95. The Drug cost is shown a $1780. My "Donut Hole" account is charged almost $1700. I can't believe UHC is paying Pfizer $1700. UHC must get a big discount??
After about $4800. in the "Donut Hole" account I must pay 25% of the full cost - about $450.
I am able to buy Eliquis(apixaban) via a Certified Canadian Pharmacy from India for $95. (120) pills. My Doctor has approved and they results are the same.
Medicare or Medicare participants are getting ripped!
Can anyone explain or suggest a solution.

There isn’t one. They was supposed to be a generic of Eliquis available January 2023, but Pfizer put a stop to that a few days before the release date. As if they hadn’t made enough money during Covid. Pfffft!

That is really sad.
True - to get the prescription assistance, you do have to submit some personal info - copy of tax return or SS benefit...I checked my file and what I copied and faxed to them was page 1 and page 2 of Form 1040- SR (seniors). Of course, my SS # was on that. Securing the data is probably on a par with any other company. I’ve given paperwork for my doctor’s office to complete for the assistance and even then uncomfortable with handing it over to the office clerks. No choice if I wanted the assistance.
I had done this for my husband’s medication in the past and it was a nightmare with AstraZeneca and other companies but I have to say Bristol Myers was handled easily and immediately.

There actually IS a generic for Eliquis/apixiban. They just won’t let you have it. Pfizer pulled some strings that retracted the release date that should’ve been January 2023.
Humana already had me set up to receive the generic. Then just a few days before release data the generic release was cancelled. The new release date is sometime in 2026, unless Pfizer finds some other reason to have it pulled.
On February 3, I even met with someone in Rep. Burchett’s (my Rep. at the time) office about this and was to told they can’t get mixed up in private industry. (Didn’t they have hearings when DirecTV cancelled Newsmax or something?)
Personally I know there other Blood Thinners - Kumandon and Warfirin. I prefer Eliquis because it is easier to use - not frequent blood tests and dosage adjustment. In getting the generic from India via Canada at a reasonable cost of $95. for 60 days.

I have bought it directly from India for about $15 for 30 days. You could get a years supply for about $200.
That is a misuse of the Sample Program. I would do that trick.
Many of the Drugs sold by Walmart, etc are from India.
80% of all drugs that we use are made in India and China.

Doctor made out like it was no big deal a couple of years ago. Now he says they are just not getting the samples.
I made a purchase from Indian Multinational. The same. product ( generic Eliquis) for $57. that I previously got thru Canada for $114. including shipping.
