Asian-American Student Has Near-Perfect SAT Score and a 4.65 GPA, Gets Ugly Shock After Applications to Elite Universities

Ask Asian children who their harshest critics are, and you will invariably get some answer involving mom, dad, or both.

Bad news for Asian-Americans across the United States — they won’t be finding much reprieve from school administrators and staff at the university level.

Look no further than the curious case of 18-year-old Jon Wang, a Florida native sporting some impressive academic marks.

According to Fox News, Wang scored a sterling 1590 out of 1600 on his SAT exam (many Asian parents would probably be mad about him being 10 points short of a perfect score) and earned an eye-popping 4.65 high school GPA, thanks to advanced classes that enable students to achieve GPAs higher than the 4.0 associated with straight A’s.

Given those marks, and the fact that Wang doesn’t appear to have any character or criminal issues, you would think one of the admissions departments at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, California Institute of Technology, Princeton, Harvard, Carnegie Mellon University or the University of California, Berkeley, would give Wang the time of day.

You would think wrong.

Wang told Fox that he was rejected by all of them.

So, what gives? What possible explanation could be provided that would explain why Wang couldn’t make the cut?

Wang has one idea why — and it’s one that he was warned about when he began the application process.

In short, Wang blames the paradoxically named “affirmative action” that is neither affirming nor helpful for his issues.

Wang told Fox that when he began applying for school, his friends and counselors warned that “it’s tougher to get in, especially as an Asian-American.”

Apparently, the color of Wang’s skin color and ethnic background (his parents are both first-generation Chinese immigrants) matters to schools — and not in the “good” way that skin color and ethnicity usually...

Absolutely true. I would add "male" to that.

And on the other end of that, these elite schools all have large numbers of staff dedicated to keeping their diversity admits from flunking out. Usually by channeling them into majors like creative writing, gender studies, and political studies

Well, that’s the way it is now in Liberal Paradise.

Some minorities are more equal than other minorities.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and Asians are known for their quiet manner, relative to other minorities.

The college needs to be mentioned. There are old conservatives that might make things difficult for the communists.

A blessing in disguise. If he’s already woke, maybe he’ll learn who his friends really are. If not, he’d have to either get woke or grovel before them.

Still too afraid to talk about blatant anti-white bigotry so they are forced to discuss some Asians that can’t get into nice schools because they don’t want to be called “racist”

He’s a slacker. No wonder he was rejected.

1700 is the minimum. GPA should be 6.0

UC Berkeley does not belong anywhere near that group of Universities unless the student is learning to become a communist agitator.

Berkeley is a school for leftwing retards. /spit

Soon the 'Elite Universities' will start losing their 'elite' status because so many of their graduates will be duds. They'll be avoided and will stop getting the best jobs.

A solution is to create new colleges that ONLY accept on merit - in time they'll become the 'elite' schools of the future. MIT can only coast on their old line reputations for so long - and then the ugly reality will take over. Eventually the world always agrees that "the proof is in the pudding"... and these school will not be able to get their old reputations back.

“Asian-American Student Has Near-Perfect SAT Score and a 4.65 GPA, Gets Ugly Shock After Applications to Elite Universities”

Clearly a bright kid. But he needs to open his eyes to the reality of todays America. Seems like they are open now.

Getting into college, or a particular university is not the right goal. Ones plan should be broader and there should be alternate paths to fulfill the plan that cannot be derailed by political correctness, liberalism, or any bad trait in any one person or institution.

Thusly armed, this kid will be successful. Whining about liberal institutions being racist and unfair does not advance your position one bit.

Maybe you have to work harder to achieve certain things. so be it.

Control the things in life that you can control. Working hard is but one of them.

But remember the lessons learned along the way.....

This is very true. Asian Americans are trying to retain their virtue feathers while protecting their interests. Specifically, an Asian American group submitted a legal brief to the court positing the legal argument that should the court find racial preferences could be afforded to blacks and browns based on a history of structural white racism that offsetting admissions cuts should come from the white tribe, not the Asian American tribe. A case of two litigants on the same side with one throwing the other under the colorblind bus.

I am not surprised, Asians and Latinos are not wanted by the elite schools because they are not African American which is being pushed as much as possible.

So who are the real racists and bigots, the Hypocritical Liberals and the Democrat Party Policies.

This is exactly the kind of student they should be wanting, but kids like him would destroy the Grade Curve and cause real competition in the classroom.

Somewhere, in the small, fine print, or perhaps on a post it note, is the term CaucASIAN. When Trayvon Martin was shot, I first read about the White-Hispanic Zimmerman. The Drive-By Media must keep the hate alive. DemocRATS love to divide, divide, divide, and then pit one group against another.

I suggest this young, bright individual go to Hillsdale College. He will probably learn more in one semester at Hillsdale than any undergraduate and graduate school in these indoctrination centers.

He should consider himself lucky he got rejected. There is nothing these institutions can teach him that is worthy of his time. Find a conservative college.

There are China concerns, though. Specifically, CCP concerns. It notably gives problems to many of its present and former citizens who go to live and work other countries.
