Why are people still wearing those stupid masks?

Posted on 05/23/2023 2:53:57 PM PDT by Kevin in California

Just got back from the grocery store and saw an elderly couple (most likely married) step out of their vehicle sporting masks. Saw a few idiots in the store wearing them as well.

Same here, caring for elderly family member in fragile health before Covid. A lady at our church has MS plus other health issues and on drugs that suppress her immune system, and her husband wears a mask at the grocery. Nothing to do with Covid. Best not to judge people whose circumstances and reasons you don’t know.

Could be immuno-compromised. Or something else.

My whole family is under the domestic surveillance due to a mix of academic ability and my involvement in politics, as detailed in my tag. My surveillance camera at the end of my driveway actually has the kid next door talking to another surveillance kid about them following me around from store to store. Those kids are being run in the schools too, it is unbelievable what is going on that nobody has any idea of.

So anyway, I have a relative who wears the mask to screw with them to prevent their surveillance from getting imagery of them when they go out. They think they get bonus points for photos or transcripts or other info they gather, so they view it as some form of resistance against traitors to the country. They are about as conservative and antiestablishment as they come.

Could be a lot of things, and the person might not be an enemy just because of the mask.

Well, your handle explains it, but it’s happening here, too.

Oh…you go around making fun of people you don’t know. You learned this bad behavior from your “god”. Your mother should have taught you better.

What other behaviors have you learned from the whoremaster?

I wear a mask outside when I am spray painting or spraying weed killer.

I guess I’m an idiot.

I’d probably wear one mowing too, but I have a service to do my mowing.

Interesting website. I’ll have to check it out more when I am not so fried from work.

Why do you care? Really? This seems to really bother you. Are they trying to strap one on you?

Go for a walk and lighten up. You are not the boss of people. It’s what liberty is all about.

Where did I say I cared? It's an observation. It doesn't bother me in the least. It gives me a good idea who is and isn't a nut job so I can avoid them.

The Governoress then sent the State Police. THEY relished it, like Cartman “Respect my Authoritay!”, but even that only lasted a couple weeks, and the task then fell back to embarrassed Walmart employees

Dang! That’s heavy-handed and sick. State Police at store entrances enforcing masks? Is your governoress named Gretchen?

I can’t imagine that happening here. There were a lot of us scofflaws during the brief and very unpopular mask mandate here. We just quickly identified and went to the places that didn’t push the mask crap and didn’t shop at any places that had mask Nazis stationed at the entrances.

No, Lujan (Lujan-Grisham to be precise, but the Grisham is just political posturing; She is a Lujan, body and soul)

If people ever saw the video I saw on You Tube about how these masks were made, where they were made and who made them they'd rip them off their face.

Spoiler: Those blue masks that became the most worn were made in India. The video I saw showed a filthy shop somewhere in India where kids were inserting the wire that allows the mask to fit over the nose on a dirty floor while some Indian man stamped the masks through a decrepit machine that looked like something from Victorian England, and probably was. It was disgusting.

I know, it's ridiculous. I don't have a problem with the elderly wearing masks, but it's the *young people* wearing them everywhere (here in The People's Republik of Connecticut) that I don't get.

I see these idiots in their 20s and 30s wearing masks on EVERY trip to various grocery stores. They look like fools.

Even here in liberal CT, most doctor's/dentist's offices don't require masks anymore, and haven't for some time.

So many people are concerned about other’s behavior. I stopped giving a hoot what anyone thinks about mine. You don’t know me, or the reasons why I do stuff. And unless I am asking you to change your behavior, I am not sure why it matters so much you.

I hear ya. I used to scoff at the people who still wear masks - especially the ones I occasionally see driving their car alone, but masked - but I get your point, we likely don't know their reasons for wearing them, and I've decided I won't judge. Are some motivated by fear? Probably, like that masked lady in the supermarket who, seeing me unmasked, made a rapid U-turn with her cart and sped away from me. But I will try my best to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Did that happen recently?

I was just in a hospital birthing center for a job I was doing. The only masks on anyone were the docs coming out of a C Section. That was refreshing.

A couple weeks ago. I was in my local Harris Teeter. In my county masks were deemed optional. So I’d say that 80-90% of the shoppers are unmasked.

Another funny thing which happened recently. A young fellow, evidently not in my county, entered the Harris Teeter masked. He saw all the unmasked people and asked me “Are masks required here?” I told him no, and he said “Thank GOD!” and ripped it off.

Wow, we stopped that crap in MA a long, long time ago.

I still see some folks around, but no one is even suggesting anyone wear a mask.

There are some strange things going on these days.
