The red wave that wasn't: An election postmortem
American Thinker ^ | 9 Nov, 2022 | Andrea Widburg

Well, that was disheartening, dispiriting, and demoralizing. We went into the party with a president with some of the lowest approval ratings in history and Americans (at least according to the polls) focused like lasers on issues that could be chalked up to Democrat policy failures — namely, inflation and crime. And yet Republicans are hanging on by a thread, and, as of this writing, it's still possible that Democrats will retain their majority in the House and gain a full majority in the Senate. If that happens, the American experiment is over, and the Marxist experiment truly begins.

So how did we get here?

In a way, the easiest answer is that our election system is completely corrupt. It's easy to blame the GOP for letting that happen, but Mollie Hemingway reminds us that a corrupt judge and a forty-year-long consent decree meant that, beginning in 1981, "The RNC had been prohibited by law from helping with poll watcher efforts or nearly any voting-related litigation."

That forty-year period gave the Democrats the ability to lay the groundwork for a fortress of election corruption. Then, thanks to COVID, the Democrats were able to build high walls for that fortress, walls built from mail-in ballots; drop boxes; ballot-harvesting; driver's licenses for illegal aliens; no ID for actual elections; endless pre-elections; and, most importantly, machines that can be gamed.

In my state, for example, poll workers give us sheets of paper that we feed into a voting machine. We enter our choices on the screen and then, when we're done, that piece of paper comes back to us with all our choices printed upon it. We then bring the paper to a scanner that instantly counts the votes.

So damned tired of the Andrea Widbergs out there who appear perpetually clueless.

Take 15 minutes here and please make others aware:

When done digesting, please search:

midterm voters told already voted

Here’s a result from GP:

Many other centers around the country have reported similarly.

Certainly turns the show and spotlight over to the Republicans who can start investigating the corruption at all levels.

The next 2 years are going to be interesting.

Then again, there is a chance that Republican win will turn into a big dud. I fear this and for good reason.

The red wave was a non-starter from the beginning. It didn’t factor in how a major decision like Dobbs would come into play. It played off the emotions of a recession.

And just by coincidence it gave the msm/pundits/talking heads the post-election gift of declaring that Dems losing the house and possibly the senate is somehow a victory.

Republicans and conservatives are equally culpable. They accepted the premise. Now post-election they still accept it, instead of saying that losing the house and possibly the senate is bad for Democrats because they are the party in power.

It’s popular now, even here on FR, to criticize Trump. But the numbers don’t lie. He had an incredible night.

As I recall in Nixon’s biography, he didn’t want to put the country through the trauma of a contested election. Recounts are one thing, but exposing that an election was stolen is something else. He did not want to disturb the illusion of fair elections. There never has been a totally clean election. He may have been right. Now we election deniers know voting is futile exercise.

Ya. And what will happen to all of the people are completely dependent upon the government? Maybe it will be an awakening. A realization.

There is a brief video on Fox website showing reactions to Stacey Abrams losing. Several said we tried to overcome longstanding voter suppression but now went some steps back again as her opponent took the election away from Stacey.

So if Left and Right are agreed the system is broken and rigged then who believes in the outcomes of the races?

I can’t believe people are accepting this election without question. The results MAKE NO SENSE. A President with Biden’s approval rating should have lost 50 seats but dementia Joe only lost a few?. How’d THAT happen?

- People voted to continue with the highest inflation rate in 40 years?
- They like that 6 million illegals have invaded the country in 2 years and want it to continue?
- They voted in favor of 10,000 Americans dying every month from fentanyl being brought across the border?
- They voted for supply chain problems and shortages?
- Destroying our energy independence? Fuel shortages, depleting the SPR?
- Defunding the police? High crime? Cities that look like those in 3rd world countries?
- Woke insanity? Sexually grooming children? CHILD MULTILATION with or without parental approval?
- We are supposed to believe the 75% of the people that think the country is on the wrong track voted to continue that?
- Etc. Etc.

IMO there is no way this is legit.

They focused on the things they hate us for: all the good things that we believe in.

Just keep going and get all your good arguments in good order and make them known wherever and whenever you can. It’s a long process to take the country back from the communist propaganda machine. We are really the “woke” ones—we finally woke up on a large scale from a long night of propaganda.

We do it with sound argument, not election by election or vote by vote. Be kind, speak eloquently, from the heart, and hope that some hearts and minds will be changed.

I hope we will make a small dent this time and deepen it in years to come.

The difference between ballots (counted) and votes (cast). It appears in some states this is the ‘new normal.

Americans 55+ vote republican.

Millineals vote dem. They have been sold on socialism and believe the media.

Add to that, the dims have structured the elections to make sure they get enough votes to win.

That was the intent of my post. I typed it and thought it would be dripping with sarcasm. And you are correct. Trump is all about Trump.

But you know other than that, the Republic is lost. People in the metropolitan areas far out number those of us in fly over country. Their very existence depends on government largess.

I had retired from politics completely and then came Donald Trump. As it turns out I was more thrilled about the idea of an non-political, sucessful businessman taking the mantel. Right idea, wrong person.

Right idea - wrong man.

But to be honest the Republicans could nominate someone as brain dead as Biden and I will vote for him/her.

Lucky here, as I am more than 3/4 century old, I don’t have to witness too much more of the demise of yet another great civilization. History tells us they rise and the fall.

I have spent the last 50 years watching ours circle the drain. This election convinces me there is no way back.

God Bless you and yours.
