Good night for Republicans, but no red wave

Posted on 11/08/2022 7:29:14 PM PST by bigdaddy45

Republicans are having a good, but not a great night. Some vulnerable House Dems survived. We take the House, but it will be tight. Senate... who knows. Georgia will go to a runoff.

Desantis is the new star of the party. He took a swing state, turned Hispanics, and won by 20 points. Massive win. He is now firmly in Trump's sights and he will do whatever he can to cut Desantis down.

Trump needs to go away. He has done nothing to help Republican Senate Candidates.

We have a new star. DeSantis. If our Senate candidates did better then yeah maybe Trump is still the frontrunner. But everyone is going to see DeSantis as the "man". Trump's history.

Agreed. It was a typical mid-term election with the party not in the presidency winning seats.

Once again the stupid people of the world have proven they will do whatever they are told and so very few are willing to stand up and fight against totalitarians.

That’s a bingo! It is always somebody else who is at fault. Churchill was right. The beat argument against democracy is a 5 minute conversation with the average voter.

I’m blaming Trump for backing horrible candidates in very winnable races just because they happened to be his friends. See Oz and Walker.

Have you met people from blue states who have been robbed or beaten or raped and do not even report the crime for fear of hurting the criminal or being called a racist? I have and these people vote. That is why you noted NY loves misery. Many of the people actually do want misery for both themselves and others.

Don’t know where you’re from but I know it ain’t Georgia

I didn’t vote for Walker in the primaries but he was not a horrible candidate. Kemp had no coattails. Walker may yet avoid a run off

Based on early results, it seems to be becoming very clear that Americans WANT to continue living under communism...

Yawn...
Another pristine totally honest Cuba-style election under our belts...

🇺🇸 “Is it possible that PA will have a retardate as one of their senators?”

The plan was to have his hard left, pro Russian/Chinese/Brazilian friendly marxist wife essentially becoming part of Senate.

Kind of like the hard lefty’s “Squad” in the US Congress really represents the Marxist from Venezuela to Mexico, and any anti-Israel/anti-American Arab and “palrstinian” countries and groups around the world.

As Obama is to Biden, we will now have what is actually an unconstitutional 35A type elected so his Marxist Brazilian wife can impact the seat.

This was known calculus beforehand.

Really? It’s 9:00 here in CA and I see a 50-50 Senate and we barely win the House. A very disappointing election.

I disagree with this analysis. I expect a Trump-Desantis ticket in 2024.

“Republicans are having a good, but not a great night.”

For a midterm election against a party with an unpopular president, it was a terrible night—one of the worst in my life. And I’m old :)

Agreed. Under the current circumstances, it should have been more of a blow-out. The Oz - Fetterman race still seems to be pretty close, so I don’t get why they are calling it for Fetterman.

GOP needs to co-opt a bunch of Libertarians and convince them not to run.

The Rats somehow figured out recently how to get rid of the Greens from the ballots, and they are not being spoilers for the Rats in several key close races.

There will be a huge swing in future Electoral College votes from NY to FLA. (Unfortunately, not until after the 2030 census. )

That would be ideal. Trump can move to Bedminster, NJ to make it work. Mar-a-Lago may already be full of FIB listening devices anyway.

What state do you live in?

Walker will go a run off election. He was not who I voted for in the primary but he ran an ok campaign. He was behind by twenty thousand notes state wide
Warnock would’ve breezed in with no problem against ANY other candidate. The libertarian took some sixty thousand votes. IF those turds had voted Walker we would be rid of the commie

And since when in politics do we care if someone is a strong candidate or a good conservative? We only care about electabilty

You can be the best most pure conservative in the world. Doesn’t help if you can’t get the votes

Trump shows up in Pennsylvania in his big new plane. Mastriano is desperate for some money so he can run ads. Any help from Trump? So, the Trump sycophants in PA hang on his every word promoting himself and Mastriano gets barely a mention in Trump’s two-hour-long rant.

Hey, Trump. You want to win PA in 2024? Maybe you should have done more to help us elect a Republican for governor. Put away the big, fat ego for once. I’m tired of you. The important races are lost. Red tsunami? More like a red trickle.

This election could best be described as not the “red wave” but the “Trump Undertow”.
