She was an all-American in her freshman year and made the Southeastern Conference’s honor roll as a sophomore majoring in interdisciplinary studies.

Ahead of the start of her junior season, Dunne is also at the leading edge of a movement shaking the old foundations of college sports: a female student athlete raking in cash thanks to the passage in 2021 of new rules allowing college athletes to sign name, image and likeness, or N.I.L., deals.

Only in the Bubble World of the New York Times and their fellow travelers, are there any "concerns" about women athletes using beauty to sell. So women college athletes be better off earning only $0 prior to Name, Image, and Likeness freedom because some women who have not been endowed with natural beauty are jealous? One of the women athletes who is making a killin' in NIL is Olympic champion gymnast Sunisa Lee at Auburn. How come she was not mentioned one time in the article? Because it blows up the "narrative"? What happened "My Body, My Choice"?

I wonder how much of this is based on the concern that transexuals are less marketable than actual beautiful women?

many post suggestive images of themselves that seem to cater to the male gaze.

What would be the over/under at % of men participating in the NIL of these women athletes? I doubt it is higher than 25%

The article would have more impact if it included suggestive pictures as examples. The uncontented cows reading the NYT would have something to moo about.

Back in my day it was the annual Playboy issue "Girls of the Big Ten."

This is mild in comparison:

Dunne is majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies. She is not going far with that degree. She best stay in college for ten years making NIL money.

The NY Slimes would be perfectly fine with cash earning women college athletes as long as they had a penis.

I had never heard of Olivia Dunne but she is one of THE prettiest/hottest women I have ever seen. WOW!

I can see why she’s making so much. She’s hotter than almost all the supermodels I’ve ever seen.

If you don’t know what sex you are and you make up a gender based on feelings you don’t deserve endorsements you deserve psychiatric institutionalized care.

I guess you kind of prove the author’s point. You post a porn cover and an ad photo and think they’re the same kind of photo, one just being “tamer” than the other.

Cute white women athletes will get more $$$ attention than black women or trans women.

Expect discrimination complaints

You are absolutely correct. The NYT is LGBTQ+ central, and angry ones at that; been that way for years from what I’ve read and explains their crazy leftist behavior.

Concur. The NYT is a Communist, insane kooky Lib rag that imagines everyone eating oatmeal in their Cabrini Green-type apartments in a redux 1984 scenario where transgenders and minorities run things and whitey cowers and becomes a servant to (enter victim group). Pretty people sell. It’s why the WNBA is a mess.

Stanford’s Tara VanDerveer, the most successful coach in women’s college basketball, sees the part of the N.I.L. revolution that focuses on beauty as regressive for female athletes. VanDerveer started coaching in 1978, a virtual eon before the popularization of the internet and social media, but she said the technology was upholding old sexist notions.

“I guess sometimes we have this swinging pendulum, where we maybe take two steps forward, and then we take a step back. We’re fighting for all the opportunities to compete, to play, to have resources, to have facilities, to have coaches, and all the things that go with Olympic-caliber athletics.”

“This is a step back,” she added.

I looked her up. She’s an ugly hag. Of course she hates the cute LSU blondie making 7-figures.

Didn’t Imus utter the “nappy headed whore” sentence and get in trouble?
I think it was the nappy headed whore thing that was being referenced. JMHO

I’m sure a lot of the girls followers are other girls. Generally girls want to look pretty and are fans. Why is it ok for dudes to want to be bigger and stronger and look up to guys like that but it’s regressive for women to look up to others beauty or style
