Mother charged in 12-year-old girl’s fentanyl death

GREELEY, Colo. (KDVR) — A mother has been charged in connection to her 12-year-old daughter’s fentanyl-related death.
Mystique Wadena is being charged with child abuse resulting in death and distribution of a controlled substance. The Weld County District Attorney’s Office said Wadena was using and selling fentanyl out of a hotel room with her children present, which led to the 12-year-old girl’s death.
Fentanyl is replacing heroin at the southern US border While she didn’t have custody, Wadena had arranged for her three children to visit her on May 2, the night before 911 was called, investigators learned. During that visit, two of the children took some of her fentanyl pills, ultimately ending one of their lives.
FOX31 legal analyst Christopher Decker said the incident showed an “all too common and tragic story of a child getting their hands on a powerful drug that may not have been dosed properly, and a life has ended.”
Just last week, the parents of a 23-month-old girl were charged with murder after she died and was found with meth and 10 times the amount of fentanyl it takes to kill an adult in her blood. Decker said this is becoming a crisis.
“The frequency is too common. The basis here is, typically, that you are dealing with an immensely powerful drug that is not only manufactured but distributed and dosed in ways that are not consistent,” Decker said.
And with these fentanyl deaths being a recent development, the way these cases are prosecuted is consistent with other drug-related charges of this nature.
“The prosecutorial tools are not new. These are being applied in a new set of cases because these fentanyl cases are something that we didn’t see five and 10 years ago,” Decker said.
There have been discussions on legislative changes to address these types of cases by increasing penalties by naming fentanyl, but those have yet to gain momentum.

You have to feel sorry for a person who suffers such misfortune and makes such bad life decisions.
Sooo, here is my question - if the person in the above picture overdosed on Fentanyl, wouldn’t that be a good thing??? I think so. What more could you ask than that people like this just go to sleep and not wake up?

Judge not lest ye be judged. This girl does not look to have had functioning parents, or any childhood at all. She looks to have been a trafficked individual by the cartels, from early childhood or infancy. Her tats are cartel markings, not decorations.
Prison may be a blessing, if she recognizes the opportunity. God bless her and help her come out of demon possession, receive the nourishing Word, and live to testify to God's saving grace. God bless the soul of the departed child, and protect and restore the surviving children.

Perhaps, perhaps not. Maybe that’s an adopted name or she legally changed her name. If it was given to her by her parents, she came out of the chute with a big handicap.
We met a young mom in Montana last week who named her baby “Barley” — yes, barley as in the beer ingredient. I think she has a dog named “Hops.”
There’s a girl at work named Fantasy.
Maybe she was named “Mystique” cause no one knew who the father was. That would be sad for sure.
Mom should change her name to “cirrhosis” cause she sounds like an alcoholic.
Well yeah, but that's the thing about Mystique. She can look like anybody. Which makes her possibly the perfect girl friend. Endless variety, monogamous relationship.
Of course you know what would happen. "Why don't you ever love me for my blue scalely self?" And then the romance is over.

Not judging whether someone is going to heaven or hell, thats Gods job- not mine.
I’ve seen how quickly parents miss the warning signs. This isn’t about saying getting a tat or drinking a beer is going to send someone to hell. My comments were more on warning signs parents need to look for. Shaved hair, multiple piercing, tats, drinking, vaping, goth, are all warning signs parents need to not dismiss with “she’s only expressing herself”. Just my 2cents based on raising 5 kids and being in education for over 25 years.
Maybe mom and dad were drug addled hipsters.
Either way, it’s hard to imagine she got a very good start.
One of the articles posted quoted her discussing body piercings and hair cutting as “instant gratification”.
Then again, maybe she was completely normal before being shot six times. Could be that she got hooked on pain killers during recovery.
I guess I’ll reluctantly let God judge this one. lol
Maybe she’s Native American? There was an Ojibwe tribal leader named Wadena. He did time in federal prison for embezzlement and other financial crimes. Many Indians lead very hard, hand-to-mouth lives and end up like this woman.
