Trump Bashes Elon Musk on Truth Social: ‘He’d Be Worthless’ Without Government Subsidies

Former President Donald Trump continued his attacks against billionaire Elon Musk from his platform Truth Social on Tuesday, saying he’d be “worthless” without government subsidies.

Recalling the billionaire’s visit to the White House during his presidency, Trump said that Musk wanted government subsidies for many of his projects that offered big promises without delivering many rewards. Trump said:

When Elon Musk came to the White House asking me for help on all of his many subsidized projects, whether it’s electric cars that don’t drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocketships to nowhere, without which subsidies he’d be worthless, and telling me how he was a big Trump fan and Republican.

I'm not supporting the idea of government subsidies. I'm simply saying that the availability of such subsidies is not a ticket to being a multi-billionaire. If it was you, I, Trump, or anyone reading this thread could have taken advantage of those exact same subsidies and become the richest man in the world. Why didn't we?

Clearly must have some technological and business acumen most of us couldn't even dream of. To denigrate all of his success for pure spite, the way Trump did, makes Trump look small, not Musk.

On top of that, it's pretty stupid to needlessly make an enemy out of the richest man in the world, who could self fund a political action committee for one of Trump's opponents with the change in his pocket.

And, as usual, it’s hard to point out when President Trump has been wrong, about damn near anything.

Choosing his cabinet? Chiefs of staff? Attorney Generals? Ivanka as an adviser?- and depending on how much you love the jabs, Warp Speed and/or putting Pence in charge of the COVID task force. He also said Kemp opening up GA was stupid. Turns out the lockdowns did more harm than good. And he'll never ever admit his poor judgement on those things.

“I just think that this us a fight that Trump doesn’t need...

DGT might be right but I don’t think this is to his advantage.”

I agree. Nothing good to come out of it. This is the thing I don’t like about Trump. I still will crawl over broken glass to vote for him but I wish he didn’t always say his thoughts.

i love trump for what he did...but not giving musk credit for his work...is bothersome. it wasn’t handed to him.

So what’s the point? What does it accomplish for Trump to launch an attack on Musk? Did Musk attack him first?

True, but Trump always takes the bait, but Musk responded instead of descalating the situation, and now it’s turning into a mess, just like the media hoped

Almost as brilliant strategy as bashing McCain two years after his death before the presidential election in Arizona. He’s brilliant! Can’t wait to vote for him a third time!

Look who’s talking! The money he ripped off out of taxpayers in 4 years constitutes most of the fat serial bankrupt’s assets.

How about - the man who wants to be president should be talking about what he wants to do when he is president or what his actual plan is for becoming president

He has a rally every month MAYBE YOU SHOULD WATCH ONE?

So fed up with this garbage. I have supported Trump but I don’t think that he can do anything but this limited repertoire. Sad.

He's not running. Desantis is too smart to run prematurely in '24. Get over it.

I’d like to think this was a mutually agreed upon ploy to help Musk’s negotiating position with Twitter. Putting distance between himself and Trump might to Twitter less in intransigent. However, that’s falling into 7-D Trumpian chess Q-like thinking. The likelier explanation is it is what it is. Exactly what we see, Trump’s ego running over top of his reasoning.

Pres Trump had a set, pre-approved list to choose from. A list approved by McConnell. And given to him by McConnell. Most of the names you mentioned had to be confirmed by the Senate. If McConnell didn’t approve they weren’t getting confirmed.

As for Kemp, much is made about his opening up a Georgia. Maybe that was because most of Georgia, other than the Democrat heavy areas, never really closed.

Pence….who else was he going to put in charge? The man had absolutely ZERO suppprt from anyone other than Mnuchin, Ross, Navarro, Lighthizer. So he was supposed to do it all I guess.

I can agree that he will probably never admit to being wrong about anything. However, I don’t know where he’s been wrong about anything.
