With an increased focus on novelty and convenience cooking, the 1960s were a time of truly odd food. Some concoctions of the era, such as 7-Up basted ham, the tuna-berry sandwich and ham-banana rolls, have been pretty much relegated to that time. But some of the other food trends of the 1960s have had some real staying power.

If they were ever cooked and served around me, the grape jelly was no more than an unidentifiable secret ingredient.
We loved Fizzies! Did you ever put one in your mouth? That was always fun!
We still make them and bring to parties, never have leftovers.

Where I grew up we weren’t that sophisticated. LOL..
In 1968 I was living in a dorm my freshman year and we had some RC in the closet. It opened one, took a swig, it tasted very strange so I looked closer at the bottle and it had a semi digested grasshopper in it. At that time RC was very popular in the Midwest, and I loved the stuff, but I’ve never been able to drink another drop. Stuff happens.
Used to drink it here in Georgia in the early 60s all the time. I’m glad I never ran across the grasshopper thing, though.
I guess human-hating leftists who want the world to stop eating meat and stuff in favor of insects would call that a ‘delicacy’ now...
I remember tiny meatballs in some kind of jelly at a Jewish wedding reception.

Spaghettios were definitely a ‘60s thing. Elementary school friend of mine couldn’t get enough of them for lunch. Carnation milk powder or pop tarts for breakfast.
First cousin to that disgusting school lunch staple: American chop suey!
I buy Spaghettios once a year to punish myself for feeding them to my kids.
