A buddy of mine was fishing in the mouth of the Merrimack River in Newburyport, MA a few years and hooked a Sturgeon.
They reeled it in and brought it up out of the water into the boat to take pictures. It was only a 4’ fish. Suddenly, the other fishermen in the boats around them started yelling to put it back in the water.
They had NO idea it was a $10,000 fine to haul in a Sturgeon.
