@barnes_law

The Oz endorsement woke up some Trump supporters to what some of us have been warning about for awhile. Trump is totally, utterly out of touch on these kind of issues, surrounded by inept, corrupt advisors. Personnel was his weakness in office, and the problem is getting worse.

I don’t give a hoot one way or another about Oz, but a careful review of Trump’s endorsements will show that there’s nothing reckless or haphazard about them.

His endorsement of Oz has nothing to do with issues.

He endorsed Oz because he knows he’s got the best chance of winning.

Telling Trump that he should endorse a MAGA candidate who is polling at 8% in a primary field is an amateurish approach to politics.

If there are two guys on ballot for a House Republican Primary in the West of Nebraska, and I’ve never heard of either, I’ll trust Trump on the endorsement.

For US Senate, it’s much easier for me and other voters to make the call...and I again thank Trump for taking all of the arrows for us during his four years in the White House.

...and I’ll stop there.

It is a problem that Trump keeps endorsing Bush League Republicans.
They spent most of his term assisting the Democrats with the Trump/Russia collusion hoax and blocking him on the fence.

Rick Perry
Betsy Devos
Mike Pompeo
Dr. Ben Carson

Just to name a few.

Personally, I don't want Trump to run in 2024. His baggage is profound and the MSM will bring it up to the point of nausea. I believe DeSantis is a better candidate, providing there are no underlying scandals.

Replace “2024” with “2016” … and replace “DeSantis” with the names of a half-dozen establishment GOP candidates from the 2016 primary field … and you could have said the same thing back then. And yet Trump toppled TWO political dynasties to win the 2016 election.

“AGREED! Who was appointed during the Trump administration, (with the possible execption of Pompeo) who turned out ‘as advertised’?”

I give Trump a wide berth on this, since, literally, EVERY NOMINATION had to be approved by the RINOs in the Senate. At to his present endorsements of candidates...I’ll again thank him for his 4 years of taking the arrows for us.

Are you saying, it’s not about the endorsee but the endorser? They get the win and he gets bragging rights to backing the right horse? There’s certain logic to that but only if they reciprocate. His selection of loyalists seems pretty weak. All we end up with are RINO backstabbers.

I don't get "the divide". I like Trump a lot and think he was a great president. Many of his endorsements and appointments have completely sucked ass. These two thoughts are not incompatible.

Everybody's game's got a weakness.

Like I was saying before (backstabbers):

BTW Miley seemed proud to explain how well read he was on Lennon, Marx and Mao. Wonder if he’s read Ayn Rand?

We need a Republican in PA. This is not TX. Philadelphia & Pittsburgh are big hurdles. I am a bit concerned with Dr. Oz, though - don’t know where he’ll be on most issues.

His endorsements have always been a mixed bag been saying it for a long time...

I think sometimes Trump just endorses who he thinks will win when it seems highly likely anyway. That way he can be right. Meaning that I suspect that in some cases he accepts that his endorsement won't change it either way so he goes with who he expects to be the winner to pad his stats, as it were.

“It is a problem that Trump keeps endorsing Bush League Republicans.”

You’re irrational.

You claim Trump endorses bush leaguers. Ok.

So the response is to directly support all anti-Trump bush leaguers and rinos etc...

Makes no sense.

Normally it’s just a never Trump ruse.

I doubt DeSantis is interested in playing 2nd fiddle.

Agreed that some of his endorsements are faulty……

BUT it is ironic that only Trump endorsements have influence and more importantly that voters and voters alone are responsible for every elected official yet they spend most of their time attacking Trump’s weaknesses as opposed to educating their neighbor persay.

Bottom line - lazy voters created this mess decades ago and it isn’t Trump’s job to vet and promote candidates nationwide. It is our job to pay attention and educate others. Whether we like it or not, half of this country is uninformed democrats. We either wake them up or grow the conservative base. All elections are closer than you think.

The following were his choices alone:

Michael Cohen - his personal attorney . A complete sleazeball.
Omarossa Manigaut Newman - he brought to the WH. What was her competence?
Paul Manafort - campaign chairman.
Chris Christie - head of his transition. Did not perform this very critical job. There was no personnel or transition plan in place on election day. Trump had to scramble to find people to fill key jobs for months after inauguration.

The following are the most critical appointments for a new administration. If Trump had done any preparation for assuming the office of President he should have completely vetted and spent considerable time with each of them before nominating them. All were failures.

White House Chief of Staff - Reince Priebus
Attorney General - Jeff Sessions
Secretary of State - Rex Tillerson
Secretary of Defense - James Mattis

Some argue Mitch McConnell was controlling who he could appoint, for every single office. If that is the case, with all of his appointment, he should not be president again. If he allowed McConnell to control who he appointed to office, why won’t that happen again in a new administration? If the president cannot assemble a competent and loyal team to carry out his agenda in the entrenched bureaucracy, he cannot be successful.

The truth is any leader of an organization owns his appointments. They accept accountability for the successes and failures of the executives they appoint — they own the results. CEO’s consult with the board of directors, before they promote or appoint senior executives but in the final analysis the CEO makes the appointment and is accountable for the performance. We the people elected Trump and if he made bad choices, and those choices sabotaged his presidency, we should consider his failing before handing him another term.

Trump also had a bad habit of going to the media and publicly trashing the people he appointed to office. What competent and capable person with a great career record wants to work for someone who publicly berates and trashes the people working for him? This is a character trait of Trump which works against attracting excellent people.

Finally, if Mitch was really pulling the strings with Trump’s appointments, Trump could have called his bluff and gone to the American people. If Trump wanted to appoint someone and Mitch said no, he could have told Mitch he was going to use the bully pulpit with the American people to make his case publicly. If the candidate was an able, honest, and respected person, Mitch would have backed down. One would think a man who would publicly trash Rex Tillerson and James Mattis while they worked for him would not have a problem going to the people with an appointment Mitch McConnell opposed.

Trump’s behavior was not always that of an evolved leader. If given a choice today in a 2024 primary between Trump and DeSantis, I would vote for DeSantis. He is a better leader and just as willing to take on the media and take tough action in governing. From what I can see, DeSantis takes full ownership for the performance of his team and doesn’t trash his people in public when things go wrong.

I actually don’t give a s***. At this point in time a trump endorsement is more important to me than anything else.

All you have to do is watch his shows to know he is 100 percent pro-gun control, pro red flag laws, pro-abortion, pro-trans, etc. There isn’t a single conservative idea that this guy embraces.
