Bette Midler early in her career choose sides. Now as her career is coming to an end she may begin to realize she choose badly and is is seeking attention for just an additional 15 minutes of fame.
She is one of those famous people who will not be remembered as the years move on. All I can say is bless her little heart and wish her well.

In the 70s I liked her music. After that, as the years went by, as her personal opinions grew as part of her public persona, I realized she’s a certifiable nut job.
To all celebrities - If you want to be an entertainer I appreciate, leave your politics to the voting booth. Then I can enjoy your artistic work without turning it off, which I will, due to your personal political views.

Thanks. Understood about the definition, but it’s one of those words that confers an undeserved status on the types of people described in the definition, in my opinion at least. I neither honor nor celebrate such people unless they do something truly worthy of being honored and celebrated.
