Emmy-winning U.S. actor Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and described her condition as a "tough road."

"A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS. It's been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. It's been a tough road. But as we all know, the road keeps going," she said in a tweet on Tuesday....

(S)/he was cute in the original “Fright Night”.

Al and Bud were the only ones from the show not invited to her first lesbian “wedding”.

I read that, she said she knew they would laugh at her wearing a tux. :-D

O-Neil is a big democrat, which shows how far we’ve fallen, with normal opinions about faggotry no longer allowed there.

That’s quite a hate filled rant on a fellow Christian.

Thanks for showing us your true heart...or lack thereof.

Now slither back to DU...

Not related to this news in any way, but an interesting bit of trivia- Applegate grew up near the site of the Wonderland murders and remembers seeing the bloody mattresses on the street, which led to her agreeing to take a relatively small role in the film Wonderland. If I recall, she played one of the people that survived the shooting. One of the goriest scenes I can remember on film.

I am reminded when Katherine Harris had a beloved diehard following on here for being a fearless conservative, but the media painted her as a unhinged loose cannon who drove people away in droves.

No doubt some of it was the media piling on her BECAUSE she was conservative and because of her actions in the 2000 election, but given the fact she went thru FOUR campaign managers in her disastrous Senate bid, each of whom abruptly quit and vowed to never work with her again, there was bound to be some truth to her real-life persona being a huge problem regardless of how "good" her political beliefs and actions were.

I remember I met her third campaign manager (after he left her campaign, of course), and asked him privately how much of the "rumors" were true that Harris did goofy stuff like map out all the Starbucks in FL and insist her campaign bus follow that route so she could have a Starbucks every morning and so on. He played pretty coy (and you have to factor in that any EX campaign manager who quit would be biased and have an axe to grind with her), and he told me some...shall we say... interesting antidotes.

With Kirk Camerson, same thing... no doubt the media loathes him BECAUSE he is a Christian conservative (and paints him as a wacko because they don't like his views), but that doesn't change the fact that Growing Pains apparently when thru THREE producers in the show's 7th season, ALL of whom abruptly quit and said Cameron was impossible to work with. By all accounts, the show was in chaotic freefall due to the disarray, and the ratings plummeted by that time. So whether FReepers like it or not, there's most likely actual problems with this guy.

I never watched "Growing Pains" growing up, and I have little interest in doing so. But I am fascinated by all the accounts of the behind-the-scenes drama about what happened behind the camera. It would be interesting to try to piece together what REALLY happened (again, taking into account political bias against Cameron and all the conflicting stories from his friends and enemies). Like Star Trek Discovery, the drama behind the drama is far more interesting than the results we got ON screen.

In both cases, I'd be first in line to see some kind of docudrama "tell all" story.

The one thing I can honestly analyze is the film Saving Christmas (written, produced, directed, and starring Kirk Cameron) since I screened the film for myself after the media and critics rated it the "Worst film of 2014" and went on screeching about how it was supposedly so terrible and had no redeeming qualities (the movie has a rare 0% score on RT, meaning NO ONE gave it a favorable review).

Having seen the movie, its actual enjoyable and interesting (raises some points about the history of Christmas I hadn't heard about before, and talks about stuff that the secular media rarely discusses about the holiday). It's worth checking out.

THAT being said, it is, objectively speaking, a pretty lousy film. In fact, the biggest problem is it shouldn't even BE a film. Cameron took what basically could have worked for a 12 minute YouTube blog, and tried to pad it into a 90 min. feature length movie, which failed spectacularly (of course he needed to add some pointless framing story about how his fictional brother-in-law refuses to celebrate Christmas because its "unbiblical", so Cameron spends the rest of the movie having a conversation in a car with him, leading into all the segments on the history of Christmas). Apparently the running time was still too short after this, so Cameron added a 10 min. end credits sequence of the cast break dancing to modern Christmas music in slow motion... shows how hip and kewl they are!

His intentions were good and praiseworthy, the end product was not.

Interesting trivia fact, even though Cameron says he only does faith-based movies now and wants nothing to do with his old pre-Christian career doing CW-style teen sitcoms in the 80s, he still agreed to guest star in the Full House reunion just recently, and do TWO Full House reunion movies in the 2000s. I guess money talks!

I’m guessing his sister leaned hard on him to do the guest shots on Fuller House.

Speaking of Candace, it is quite interesting how she, also a devout Christian, doesn't attract anywhere near the vitriol her brother gets.

Like Star Trek Discovery, the drama behind the drama is far more interesting than the results we got ON screen.

I don't know how any scripted fiction can top the absurdity of ViacomCBS recently renewing Alex Kurtzman's contract and dumping a boatload of money in his lap to produce even more crap Trek.

Despite having the same last name and co-starring on the same 80s sitcoms, I wasn't even aware Kirk Cameron and Candace Cameron were siblings until a few years ago. Funny they can get Kirk to show up for a Full House reunion, but not the Olsen twins.

I noted earlier than fellow 80s teen heartthrob/bad boy Marky Mark (now known as Mark Wahlberg and wants to be known as a "serious" dramatic actor) became a hardcore devout Christian a few years back, and the media just collectively shrugged. I think his conversion is sincere like Cameron's, but again the lack of media backlash is probably because: A) He doesn't push social issues like pro-life in public, and B) He's not in-your-face and overbearing like Kirk Cameron is. Ironically, Marky Mark WAS an overbearing obnoxious thug BEFORE his conversion, and while I'm sure he's sought forgiveness for that, it doesn't excuse his past actions/record. Kinda like Newt Gingrich (assuming Newt "finding Jesus" with the woman he created on is sincere)

A bit off topic, but mentioned earlier in the thread: they keep doing reunions of sitcoms I never watched in the first place and don't care about (Full House, Roseanne, Murphy Brown, etc.), but never do reunions of sitcoms I'd actually want to check out (Married With Children, Home Improvement, Family Matters, etc.)

Actually, that picture of her isn’t bad. It’s been 34 years since MwC debuted in 1987, and I see lots of women her age wearing shorter hair.

(I’m more concerned with what’s going on between her ears....)
